Well that and the Chargers were blacked out. But the Xolos still would have outdrawn the Chargers even if they'd been on TV.
Congrats guys. Heres to the first truly cross border team. The only team that is truly supported by fans in two different countries. Viva Los Xolos. Champions. Build a bigger stadium PLEASE
Aren't they in the process of doing exactly that? It's supposed to hold 33,333 by the time they're done.
By car stickers alone on cars with California license plates I'd say definitely. They're starting to surpass Chargers lightning bolts around here. That and of course the team is estimating over 3,000 fans a game now come from SD. And their TV viewership north of the border surpasses the Padres and all SDSU teams. Only the Chargers still manage to beat the Xolos in the ratings (when they're not blacked out that is).
you'd be surprised Chargers & Padres never won jackshit, so i guess Xolos is the next best thing. quite sad if you ask me.
Winning definitely won't hurt. But they were already making inroads before they won the championship.
Agree with the rest of the people that say Xolos are huge in San Diego....I've seen Xolo stickers in La Jolla, North Park, Vista, and Mira Mesa...they're getting really popular here.
I see them lil round stickers on cars in LA here and there, but def nothing near America and Chivas support. But still, for a relative young club, the support is in this region is a stronger than I anticipated.
I see them north of 52 on occasion and north of the 8 quite often particularly on the 15 and in Mission Valley. So they're further north than you think.
Them's are fighting words, amigo, but I digress. (For the record, I support both teams.) Front Row Seat Santa Claus The Convoy
I see Xolos stickers everywhere. Hank Rhon has done a great job. I wonder if that mafioso is making money on the team but I have a hunch he always finds a way to make money.
impressive first 5 years for a club. sweet stadium, 33,333 seats!?!?!?. seemingly good ownership and a decent fan base. cheers!
Decent? I don't think they failed to sell out a game all season. Seems more than "decent" to me. Arguably one of the best fan bases in all of Liga MX particularly given the short time they've existed.
