I noticed that too. I know they are a fledgling club and all, but they are ripe for the picking. You got the entire Southern California within driving distance to an FMF club just across the border. This the perfect opportunity for them to expand their commercial interest into San Diego and build on from there. Lots of money could be had, but I am sure Xolos are looking more heavily into it.
They're doing just that. There was an article in the UT near the end of last month where they talk about opening up a merch kiosk at the mall in Chula Vista as well as a US targeted website (which would presumably have an online store as well) in addition to English radio broadcasts and possibly SD County TV as well. All part of their first real push into the US.
That sounds like a very reasonable business plan. Fill in that money gap of San Diego and expand prudently.
They sell some original jerseys on ebay. They are $100 bucks though. You can find some pretty cool xolos stuff on ebay. This is a shirt I bought a couple months ago:
That parking lot is the best spot imo, especially now that they've changed the outbound pedestrian path to the east side of the border. I'm organizing a trip for the last saturday night game, Nov 3 vs San Luis. Meeting around 5pm at the Jack in the Box. PM me if you're interested.
Slightly nervous about the match vs Monterrey even though we've beaten them before and they don't have Chupete.
Got an extra cabece norte (general admission) ticket for today if anyone is interested. Have to be able to get to the border by 2pm. PM me if interested.
What the hell is going on with this Xolos team? Four yellow cards in the first leg, they are beaten off the ball, they can't defend the counter and they are down a goal to the one team that has beaten them all Apertura! Absolute garbage. EDIT: Make that two. I haven't even finished writing this post, and now they are down two goals. Two goals in three minutes. If these Xolos want to give up and not even try, they can just say so and forfeit their Libertadores spot to America. What a collapse.
Leon was the only team to beat them all season. Straight up bogey team. It was pretty frustrating. It felt like 100 botched chances, 101 yellow cards. Especially that chance at the beginning of the 2nd. How did they blow that.
Its not as bad as you feel. Tijuana had their chances and didn't take them. As its said in footie, un gol fallado es un gol en contra.
Well, thanx to the new format, you wouldn't be able to see that until 2014. And now in this post-Xelaju age, a Mexican advancement is far from a guarantee. Xolos better not choke it away.
