"Critics of a bill that would give law enforcement new powers to access Canadians' electronic communications are aligning themselves with child pornographers, Canada's public safety minister says.

"He can either stand with us or with the child pornographers," Vic Toews said of Liberal public safety critic Francis Scarpaleggia during question period on Monday, after Scarpaleggia asked about a bill expected to be tabled Tuesday."

How the hell did this idiot get voted into power? I seriously thought better of you.

There's no small amount of irony coming from a Dane in wanting to protect the communications of Pedophiles.

typical 'you are with us or you are with the terrorists' bs. f.ucking idiots that voted conservatives. i want left wing parties in power so i can continue exploiting the social services and getting money, and download from the internet in peace.

    For starters.

Don't take anything that comes from the CBC seriously anymore. They've become the left wing version of Fox News now.

Its just the NDP looking for a fight, and giving the Conservatives one is another mistake in their time in opposition.

While i don't really support this bill as i think it goes to far left wing parties just look how bad shape ontario is in as a country what we need is a party that is not left wing or right wing put a party that does come down the center.

the voting process is stupid... you choose your local regions MP. what ends up happening is that people choose the MP of their own race, and the more a type of race is in one area, the more that MP of their race gets elected. so people vote for the MP based on how they like that individual personally... not his/her party. thats why a random party gets elected.

I don't think people vote based on race most vote who they feel will be the best is it the right choice each time no of course not people that vote most times will vote for who they feel will serve them the best and not look at the full picture.

You really think people say hey i am going to vote for my race and not for what the person stands for?

i dont know about ottawa:D but that is exactly how it is in more multicultural communities such as the GTA. and if its not race, its some other local promise. my point is that it just doesnt make sense to vote for your MP only based on what he/she is offering you. this makes a random party win. look at mississauga/brampton there is always an indian sounding name that wins.:D

when somebody is clueless, it has been suggested that he/she makes a stupid face, grabs a staple gun, and gets to work on their mouth.

    2 recent elections:

    Whatever you say

    @vikileaks30, now there's you're proper left-wing hatchet man.

But anyway, Toews rhetoric deserves the "how long since you stopped beating your (ex)wife?" treatment.

But hey, maybe if the government could write better legislation in the first place, all this goes away. Seems the outcry has caused a rethink:

I don't know what is worse this bill or those that think there should be no laws online and you should be able to do what every you want.

I think this is worse, way worse.

Most of the twitterverse stuff seems to point towards fraud in between 14-34 ridings affecting thousands of voters. Lists of the affected ridings I've seen were closely fought Conservative wins over Liberals.

Oh and Doyle here's the NP version if you'd prefer.

I would go as far and say Harper should step down and there should be a new election called.

It may be a while before it gets to that, and Elections Canada and the RCMP may take more time before charges are laid.

At a minimum I'd expect a by-election in all the effected ridings.

I am just tired of whats going on every week now it seems there is something new and no its not all Harper fault but as the pm he does and should hold a fair amount of the blame.

    Oh I agree, trust me.

I find it awfully ironic that the pat response I'm hearing is 'Adscam' from the CPC types. As if Liberal wrongs justify this behaviour, it's like arguing with schoolchildren.

Harper's pride will be his undoing, if not for this, then something that happens next.

So if there were new elections anytime soon, does it look like the conservatives would win again?

Most likely. The opposition is too weak to mount a response (both are under interim leadership at the moment) and this latest issue is rather flimsy at best.

Yeah, Doyle's right, the timing isn't good for the opposition parties. Though if this story has legs that could change in a hurry IMO.
