My roots are Irish and Dutch. Grandpa (paternal) spoke Dutch growing up in Iowa. I'll be pulling for them both, though I imagine the Irish will be out before the total football bunch.
I think that it will be between Germany and Spain. Although, I must say, if Torres is their starting striker, their possibilities of winning it will be diminished.
Yea I think Spain will be eliminated before the finals, too many things not going their way and its inconceivable to win three major tournaments in a row. Germany have defensive weaknesses despite everyone thinking they'll win it. England and France are good dark horses as is Poland. The one team I think will also live up to their favorites tag is the Netherlands.
Underwear: essential Bar: optional Caveat: this rule only applies before 10:00 AM on a Monday. Other variations come into force at all other times.
The dutch can be favorites....except they are in the group of death. if they get out of the group - I like their chances. So it's possible, not likely that both Germany and Holland don't even make the knockouts. This weekend is frikken tantalizing - Saturday - Holland/Denmark, Germany/Portugal, Sunday - Spain-Italy.
The British media is so in the tank for that man. It's never going to be his fault, even if they get shelled.
Off course they will. Its the start of the tournament so everything is going to be positive just like if England crash out everything will be hugely negative. There is very little middle ground in the English sporting media.
But he failed at Liverpool because those dirty Scousers didn't support his brilliant hoof and hope full blooded Anglo-Saxon approach to football. But by Saint George those lousy continentals will pay. And wait until Sir Shrek joins the battle!
http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/media-watch/carra-s-euro-2012-preview Carra's Euro preview Ironic for him to point fingers at star players for not supporting a manager considering his lack of support which helped force Rafa out.
Sure Carra, blame it on Babel and N'Gog. BTW, I was watching Euro '04 highlights on YouTube. Holy crap, that was a ********ing good tournament.
Saw this yesterday, and the fact that's not photoshopped (it's real) is more than a little sickening. Some kind of rationalization here.
He calls out "some star players who've since left the club". Who else could he be talking about? Riera?
Ngog was never a star. Its clear he's talking about Torres, others he may be including are Babel, Jova, Cole, Miereles, Poulsen and maybe even Konchesky.
Don't forget El Zhar and Kyrigakos. Those spoiled superstars couldn't handle Roy's "shape shape shape" approach.
Considering Carra pushed to get Rafa out and a British manager in, its clear he's looking for any excuse other than Hodgson is shit and should never have been hired to explain why Hodgy failed. Blame the foreigners is the easy way out.
The Poles are off the mark. Lewandowski doing what strikers do. Peeled off the defender and found himself in acres of space on the far post. Didn't need to be asked twice.
