Over the five years, the number of D1 teams increased from 314 to 322, not much of an increase.

I'm not sure what your other questions mean. I might have the data to answer some of them, if you can ask them in a more detailed way.

    Shots favored Maryland 29-5
SOG favored Maryland 13-1 (I guess it was an awesome performance by the Fordham keeper)

Denver's 4-1 over Colorado wasn't that close, it was 2-0 five minutes in. The 1 was an own goal. I'm also disappointed that they didn't join the WCC, seems to me they would be an excellent fit.

LMU took their second shot of the game with 4 minutes left in regulation. Their first shot was 60 minutes earlier and it went in. It's soccer.

[Oklahoma v Oklahoma State [Oklahoma wins 1-0. Stats look pretty even. Word is that GK Kelsey Devonshire is having a great season for Oklahoma.]
Kelsey was an outstanding goalkeeper they day she showed up at OU, she just didn't have much of a team in front of her at first so her stats weren't good. Good to hear she's having a senior year she deserves to have.

[Is SDS really good, or is Minnesota not that good?]

SDSU is really good. Ask Pepperdine. Their weakness so far is that for all their domination of games, they don't score a lot.

They're not that much better. Improved, yes, but still not good. Oklahoma turned around and lost to Oral Roberts on Sunday. They were pumped up Friday, and OSU didn't match that as well as they should have. It's the first time OU has beaten the Cowgirls since 2005.

I was at that game, and Oklahoma State was the better team - it was just one of those games where the ball didn't bounce their way. Oklahoma's goal was on a breakaway, and they were fortunate to get it - there was a nasty wind from the north the whole game, and the shot nearly got blown past the post. Credit to their player for having enough on it (and enough angle) to get it past AD Franch.

Devonshire was solid, but there were a couple of situations that should have resulted in goals for the Cowgirls that didn't. C'est la vie.

OSU fans are hopeful this is the wakeup call some of our freshmen needed to quit playing to the level of their opponent, as they had been the last few games. Turning around and beating Rice 4-0 was a good start on that path.

The rematch game at the end of September is the one that counts for conference play, and should be a different affair.

Is Purdue/West Virginia 2-2 kind of an upset in that Purdue has been pretty awful to start and WV is the only team to beat Stanford? Also, what about little Samford beating Kentucky , not a close game?

    Syracuse 3, UConn 2.
Not sure how much of an upset this is though. UConn last year couldn't even make their conference postseason tournament yet somehow have been given decent attention this year. Both Providence and Syracuse did, yet somehow UConn was finished to pick ahead of them both this year. Same can be said about USF. Expect Syracuse and Providence to give it a little run if they have a chip on their shoulders which they should.
Still thinking Marquette, Louisville, and Notre Dame will be contenders for the league. Possibly Georgetown and maybe Rutgers if Filigno holds her form.

UConn is a much better program and team than Syracuse. That was Syracuse's first win over UConn ever. It was a huge upset and big win for Cuse.

UConn starting keeper and Syracuse player collided and UConn keeper was cleated and taken off the field my ambulance. UConn deserves the attention they have gotten, but have been snake bitten by countless injuries according to the campus paper and radio broadcasts.

They would have beaten UCLA had it not been lightninged out. Really outplayed UCLA.

So far, Connecticut's record doesn't make much of an impression. One might say that Syracuse's record is poorer than Connecticut's. But so far, neither team has distinguished itself except perhaps for Connecticut's tie with Santa Clara.

What I meant was that if you just look at UConn's results, you don't walk away impressed and don't understand the hype.

If you watch how they played early on this year, and without top players injured you would begin to understand the hype they were given, and probably deserved.

In a way UConn has been playing without their top players like other teams have been without their U-20s. Syracuse beat a UConn team missing three of it's top players and starters and the starting goal keeper who was taken off by ambulance.

Last year UConn was especially down because once again they were missing two starters throughout the entire season and were without another starter in a game vs Providence to get in to the Big East's.

    And some interesting results.

#2 Stanford 5, #23 Oregon State 1. 5-0 shortly after halftime, OSU scored on a corner kick near the end, first goal on Stanford this month.

Cal State Northridge 1, at Portland 1.

Utah Valley 0, at #9 BYU 1. Shots were 21-2. Attendance 3,589. Next game is Santa Clara.

Shots were 37-5, on goal 16-3, corners 6-0, but it took #25 Santa Clara into overtime to win at home 3-2 over Fresno State. Late in regulation the teams scored 18 seconds apart. Next game is at BYU.

#1 Florida State 1, at #9 North Carolina 0; #8 Penn State 3, Ohio State 0; #18 Maryland 3-1 over #7 Virginia; Minnesota 3-2 over Wisconsin; and Fatigue 1, Me 0. Good night.

I cutted and pasted this, please let there be paragraphs.

Did anyone see the Arizona State/USC game that supposedly had three or four red cards against USC. I'm assuming that there had to be some back story.
