Yes that`s quite right, June/July is the cold season, it will be like October in England, so any excuses about not doing well because of the weather will be totally laughable.

I agree, though I would add that any excuse based on weather would be laughable be that hot or cold season. But to be honest, I don't think teams are gonna make those excuses anyway. In Qatar maybe (and then it's somehow understandable), but not in Brazil.

You need to realize who will be going. For the natives, no. There's a reason teams wanted to avoid the cities in the North. For me and you, it may not be so hot.

Those temperatures are good enough for gringos to wear shorts and flip flops while the locals are dressed for cooler weather.

Who's the backup? Is Eduardo still part of the squad? I know he has played qualifiers.

They will likely play indoors in qatar. If by 2022 they cant figure out a way to build a/c stadiums there, we have worse issues

Maybe you should talk to your boy Tim Vickery since you're his fan......

    1. How sauna-like heat could decide the World Cup - BBC

7 days ago - Location, weather and kick-off times could be central to a team's chances in the 2014 World Cup, says Tim Vickery.

7 days ago. These problems have been addresed by fifa once again showing that he is not off base.

by the way Globo did a piece on the avg temperature of each place, none above 30

    7 days ago? It's recent.

    What problems have been addressed?

You said the heat shouldn't be an issue. Tim is saying IT IS, and enough of a factor to decide the World Cup.

Fifa changed the start time for WC Matches the day after the draw to accommodate temperatures and travel time.

    Where's that?

    http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/matches/

    Mexico-Cameroon 13:00 Natal
Italy playing Uruguay and Costa Rica in Recife and Natal at 13:00
    Bosnia-Iran in Salvador 13:00
    Germany-Portugal in Salvador 13:00
    USA-Germany in Recife 13:00

Those are just the 13:00 games and not the 16:00 games which will probably still be hot in the NE. And that's also not counting any hot days in Rio, Brasilia, BH.....

Manaus Matches were included. That's going to be the worst of them all, plus expect for all of the higher temperature stadiums to be raining during match times!

SF game was in Fortaleza. That game went to PKs. That's probably what he meant.

And the third pace game in Salvador too. The commentators mentioned the heat.

They're nuts. The Britts are always bitching about some type of condition. I remember in the '70 WC, the Britts brought their own water because they didn't want to drink the water in Mexico.

Eduardo is the third striker. Olic is the backup to Mandzukic but both Eduardo and Olic have played as wingers as well. Eduardo is a shadow of what he used to be. Before his gruesome injury he was one of the best finishers in the world.

Maybe we should open a thread for Brazil's opponents at the World Cup or a Group thread?

Simunic has been suspended for 10 games

So Croatia is down two players (suspension) in their opener against us.

Ye idiot im sure Simunic has Hitler posters in his home. Za Dom Spremni the chant Simunic used is perfectly legal in Croatia and is a chant over 450 years old. He loves his homeland and used a nationalistic chant.
