World Cup 2014 Fantasy Draft Signup

This is the signup thread for the World Cup Fantasy Draft. I will use time slot for this draft.

I am limiting it to 16 teams in the draft because there are only 32 World Cup teams and the player pool is limited.

The draft will start on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014.


Rules

Part I
1) We start at the end of April. We should finish by mid-May. We will draft players from all the teams of the World Cup Finals.

2) At the end of the draft, we grade each other just liked any other draft.
-- You can draft an injured player such as the Columbian striker. However, we will count against him in Part I of the draft. We will judge him based on his status at the start of the draft. However, if he makes a recovery in May and makes it to Brazil 2014, his fantasy points will not be affected.
-- If a player is injured during the draft and missed the WC Finals, we will not count against him in Part I. If John Dole suffers a season ending injury on May 1st and misses the WC Finals, we will judge him as the player at the beginning of the draft.

3) We will have a winner for Part I.

Part II

1) The WC starts: Each team is allowed to make one sub for a player who does not make it to Brazil 2014 four days before the kickoff. The sub must be playing in the same position as the missing player. A striker for a striker, right winger for a right winger, a leftback for a leftback, etc. I reserve the right to veto any additional player.

2) We will use Yahoo/fantasy football or official FIFA point system to determine the winner of the fantasy part. At the time of writing, I do not know if they will have a fantasy draft. I have no information.

Part III
1) The Final winner = Final ranking of Part I + Final ranking Part II(ranking not total fantasy points)

I am planning to have a strict draft. I am thinking anyone missing a pick would have to make it up at the end of the draft. And the draft clock will be shorter. We have to beat the clock. No one wants to be judging a draft during a WC Finals, I found out.

We got eight teams. That is a good number because the limited number of player pool and people should also think about the quarterfinalists or beyond. How about others?

Ianman got the first pick because of his works with all the sheep drafts. Sorry, Sammer's Hammer happened to pick the time slots before Ianman. So he is drafting "before" Ianman at the opposite order.



The draft will start officially on April 30th(GMT), but I will put a selection thread before that. People should start at anytime. The time slot is for reference only.

Each pick gets a 12 hour window as usual. However, if you miss a 12 hour window once, your window is reduced to 6 hours.

At the time of writing, I cannot find a fantasy league to base our point system yet. I googled the official FIFA WC 2010 fantasy draft. It did not make the official announcement until May, 2010. So I probably won't see anything until next week. I am not too worried. Yahoo, ESPN or FIFA will have a fantasy game sooner or later.

Meanwhile, if there isn't one, we can make our own.

I copied and paste this from the UK Yahoo Fantasy game. I deleted the assist and goalkeeper saves for now because those stats are hard to come by. If nothing comes out this year, we will use this.


For playing up to 60 minutes 1

For playing 60 minutes or more 2

For each goal scored by a goalkeeper or defender 6

For each goal scored by a midfielder 5

For each goal scored by a forward 4

For a clean sheet by a goalkeeper or defender 4

For a clean sheet by a midfielder 1

For each penalty save 5

For each penalty miss -2

Bonus points for the best players in a match 1-3

For every 2 goals conceded by a goalkeeper or defender -1

For each yellow card -1

For each red card -3

For each own goal -2

 

The draft will start in 24 hours. This is too quiet here.
