Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal Some web sites indicate that Chavarri was going to sign for the Peruvian club Universitario. Their web site appears to be devoid of content at the moment, and their Wiki page doesn't mention him. (However, john3628, looks like you're right about the guy in Argentina being someone else.)
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal Diego had offers at the end of last season to join Universitario but wanted to head up to the States to see if he could arrange some trials and get noticed by MLS. He didn't have much organization, however. I don't know if it has fallen through
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal Time to get a new thread title CHAVARRI SIGNS WITH CD COBRESOL
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal Chavarri made his first start today for Cobresol going 63 minutes in a 2-0 loss.
Chavarri scored his 2nd goal of the week yesterday and this one was a goalazo Check it out.. play begins at :45 #
New interview with Chavarri and he talks about playing in Peru (it's very, very tough). http://www.yanks-abroad.com/content.php?mode=show&id=9224
Chavarri has joined Sport Huancayo in the Peruvian Primera. It's a step up. Hopefully he gets paid at his new club
Only a small step up. Another cash poor small Andean team in a league where the best clubs for playing and developing your game are in Lima or the north coast. Diego burned a lot of bridges at Cristal with his attitude toward training and his in-game losses of composure that resulted in him being suspended by the league. There is talent, and he will get opportunities in Huancayo. Let's hope the maturation process keeps pace with his play. For a better Peruvian-American talent see Saco-Vertiz, Aurelio. A LB to boot.
Article on Chavarri and the move. Didn't know he had attempted to sign with Orlando. http://m.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/01/15/american-exports-ny-born-chavarri-finds-new-team-peru
No. He's probably not asking for much. It's no secret that layers in Peru struggle to get paid. He has said that he wants stability more than anything. The Orlando City trial (last year) was just after he was just coming off a season where he was injured and missed a lot of time. Wasn't fit
Taht was my second guess. I think he'd be great in MLS. He's very Andy Najar'ish from what I've seen.
He has said he wants to come to MLS but I think he needs to stay healthy for a whole season and consistantly be an impact player. That's something he has yet to do.
I thought for sure this thread had been bumped because of Klinsmann calling this kid on the phone and asking him to play for us.
