Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal? Seems like they are more interested in that Advincula guy but him scoring a goal in the next game would definately raise their interest.
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal? Chavarri rumors to Vitesse are heating up http://voetbalinfo.nl/nieuws/11998/niet-advincula-maar-chavarri-mogelijk-naar-nederland/
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal? a move to the Netherlands would definitely put him on the map of other US soccer media
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal? Well, there is one US soccer media outlet that is ahead of the curve (again) and has been covering him for awhile
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal? Playing in the Netherlands - assuming he gets a regular run - would definitely put him in strong contention for the national team. Afterall, Michael Bradley debuted for the US while playing in the Netherlands. If it works for him...
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal? I know this is what BS is for but I always chuckle at comments like these. WE always take something and play it all the way out. He might move to the Netherlands (Rumor) IF he gets regular PT (Hypothetical) He would then be in contention for a nation team call up (Possible) We all do it but its still funny anyways
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal I think that playing in the Netherlands would also put him on the map for the Peruvian national team.
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal personally i see some skills but he is not even a starter in sporting cristal and its not close to get a call up for peru
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal Bshredder can confirm this but I believe he was starting before his ankle injury. I believe he is not working back towards 100% fitness
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal Here is an update Diego talks about 1) Sporting Cristal 2) his injury and recovery 3) Vitesse rumor 4) the recent coaching change at Cristal 5) ambitions to play in Europe CHAVARRI SURGING AHEAD WITH CRISTAL
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal Good article. He wants to play in Europe (who doesn't) but seems satisfied with life at Sporting Cristal, and wouldn't seem to mind a little more time with them until concrete interest from Europe arises.
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal Out of curiousity.........and a selfish desire to have more wing middies, can you share your gut feeling about his national team preference? Is he a hedger ("I'll go with whomever calls first") guy at the moment? Or do you feel that he's more in one camp over the other (Peru vs. USA)?
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal I know that he would rather play for the US. That being said, he's not opposed to Peru either. If both call at the same time, he'd go with the US. If Peru calls first, it'll be interesting. I certainly don't think he's ready for the USMNT yet. But I think he should be considered for the US Olympic team once he gets completely back from his ankle injury. He's not at 100% yet but when he is, he's a starter for Cristal and one of their better players.
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal Well, with qualifying less than a year from now, I'm sure the US U23 head coach is very familiar with him and doing his scouting due dilligence. I mean, that would be the case if the US, ya know, had an Olympic head coach.
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal No real hurry. It's not like there is anytime for a camp at the moment. Most of our U23s are key contributors for clubs. I'd imagine Bob Bradley will take the job if it doesn't conflict with the World Cup qualifying schedule. If it does conflict, it'll go to someone already involved with US Soccer (like last time).
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal Yeah. Wasn't suggesting that he was ready. I don't know the relative strength of the Peruvian league nor much about the player aside from your fine reporting. I was just curious how he felt. A successful transfer to Vitesse would speak volumes though.
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal http://goal.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/...american-glory/?smid=tw-nytimesgoal&seid=auto new article on NYTimes where bshredder gets name dropped some cool quotes
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal Why? He was born to Peruvian parents, was raised in Peru, and speaks Spanish.
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal Apparently because that is something he stated in the interview. Also, taking into consideration that his only chance of making it to the World Cup someday would be with the US. Don't forget that people speak Spanish here in the US too bro.
Re: Diego Chavarri at Sporting Cristal strange thing is I don't think he is being considered for the Peru NT by anyone to be perfectly honest the Peru coach has mini call ups of local players every so often and I cant recall him ever being mentioned 2 other younger Sporting Cristal guys have been called up, interesting to see where his carrear goes
