    bingo

the golden rule of management, said by many top CEOs. Hire the right people and then trust them to do their jobs. Levy does not trust anyone

i'll give ya the first part. the time thing, though ... I'm not sure. we didn't exactly appear to be moving in the right direction. and if we're honest, he didn't appear to have any more belief than the rest of us.

blame levy if you'd like. I do. but did you see us under villas-boas? it was crap.

(... not that it's gotten any better since he left, mind)

at any rate, it's fairly simple. he was very good at porto. he was shit at Chelsea. he was shit at spurs. perhaps he'll be great at zenit. if Portuguese fans want to applaud him, fair play. if zenit fans love him, more power to him. but I don't think you're going to do much convincing here. he took our most majestic side since hoddle, waddle, and ardiles in '87 and poured cement in their shoes.

    no love. end of.

You can't lobby for a DoF, get the one you asked for then turn around & complain he's not doing what you want. It reeks of an immaturity & passing the buck neither of which are good qualities in a manager.

how do you know Baldini was the one he wanted? And most importantly, how do you know that once Baldini came he wasn't answering to Levy first before AVB? Afterall Levy wrote the check and he might have been influenced by him to ignore AVB's wishes. All speculation of course, but neither of us really know.

This pretty much sums up our season:

Anyone else here sorta wish we we don't have to worry about the Europa next season and can concentrate on the league?

It makes getting results in the league easier, for sure. But I'm not all that interested in making things easier. Hell, by that criteria, we should get relegated. We'd kick ass in the championship!

I understand that some folks don't rate the europa, and I can't say the rationale is wrong. But I love being in europe, me. Love it. When we drew to within one (aggregate) at benfica, those were the best 10-15 minutes of this whole shitty season for me. I'll be gutted if (when) we finish 7th.

I thought I had read somewhere that Balidni was AVB’s choice, but cannot find any such article so I may have been cobbling together things in my mind. That being said I have little doubt Levy was influencing things, he’s an egotistical micro-manager that is, sadly, both the largest obstacle in getting Tottenham consistently over the 4th place hurdle and the best chance with his stadium push. Until that project is decided one way or the other Danny will remain in charge.

i contend that Bale made AVB look good last season. the soccer itself was fairly tedious other than Bale saving the team every now and then

HRs teams were more watchable, he just didnt know how rotate teh squad, and they'd be worn out by season end

I posted it somewhere but forget where. It says something like AVB wanted him since last season(12/13) but couldn't get him due to contractual reasons.

The probability is about 90% that every match in the Russian league is fixed by the oligarch's gambling networks.

Why does that clown keep posting Russian results? :D

AVB had an unbeaten season with Porto and won the Europa, how did that help him at Chelsea and us? The man can win every game in Russia 10-0, he just isn't cut out for the Prem, not at this stage of his career anyway.
