he looks so slow though, that sort of playmaker works in itaqly where there can be alot of space to exploit, but we need a dribbler who can make incisive passeses quickly when going against a 2 banks of 4 against the likes of stoke etc
There isn't IMO a single player in the world who could make this team take the steps necessary to be a PL contender. 2-3 truly world class players are needed to make the jump.
We need I feel a world class playmaker and back up to Robin, this is it. Ramsey is too inconsistent and isn't the full article yet. We should have signed Mata when we had the chance, but now, we should sign Sniedjer. Demba Ba should be monitored. If he continues over the long-term to score goals, then why not pick him up. If he's a one season wonder like Kevin Phillips was years ago, then drop him.
What do you think we need to be on level terms with City? I'd say: an established back-up right fullback. an established playmaker. a consistent Theo.
midfield maestro is my biggest call. Gunners aint scoring has everything to do with competent service and lack thereof.
Ganso for 15m? Whaaatt? no.. EDIT oh and this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2083232/Arsenal-target-Matias-Suarez.html Arsenal target 10m Matias Suarez
city have world class players as backup in some positions lol to compete with city a backup 20 mill striker a 30 mill right winger a 30 mill playmaker a 15 mill world class right back as...cover a world class cb for 15 million....as cover etc etc we will never compete with city till uefa do something about spending and cap wages (will never happen) for u twitter losers #ripfootball
I think this Matias Suarez thing could well happen. An Argentinian striker/winger who currently plays for Anderlecht. 23 years old, something like 14 goals in 24 games this year. Apparently Arsenal have already bid for him - I have to say this seems very much like a Wenger transfer to me.
could anyone who has seen him play describe him please? as ben said, he sounds like a wenger buy (out of left field and right price range).
Decent to good technically, mobile, positionally above average. Until this season the main gripe was that he didn't score enough. Which is why it seems a risk to gamble on the fact that he will be able to recreate this kind of form at the Emirates. Especially if the fee is truly around the 10M range, there are far safer bets out there imho. Him, Biglia and Gillet (another Anderlecht player who is far outperforming his usual level this season) are the main reasons they are doing so well this year though. What level would u describe the Belgian league? Championship or league 1 with anderlecht a lower level prem side? I have no idea. The guy looks good but YouTube highlights can be misleading. I like welliton myself, but how many players have done well coming from the russian league? Ivanovic? Arshavin had a few good months but that's about it
Don't forget the UEFA Cup that year too. That being said, how many people had heard of him before the UEFA Cup or EURO 2008?
Poor guy is clueless in the transfer market. The record speaks for itself. Look at all the successful transfers he never made.
Sorry mate, can't agree with you here. Managers that tend to..... 'Make sure the TV cameras are on me...Touch the temple with one finger..point to the halfway line..roll your hands over and over again....and point to the 18 yard box.... Then..... spend your next few years getting sacked by West Brom, then Preston North End, then Blackpool, then Bolton, then Newcastle, then Blackburn....find yourself at West Ham, but will probably manage one, or all, of the above teams one more time, before your career is over, unless of course, you get a phone call from Italy or Spain (HA HA HA ROFL)' ....are clowns. Mr. Wenger, is not. But hey, it's a forum, and that's just my opinion.
These comparisons are impossible to make. Genk got spanked twice in away games in the CL, but they were a shadow of the team that won the league (hence their current position of 6th in the league). By contrast, the three Europa League representatives (Club Brugge, Anderlecht and Standard) all did very well, each of them winning their group. I believe Belgian teams have accumulated the 5th highest amount of UEFA coefficient points this season.
thanks, BG. i don't see him getting the kind of space he got in that highlight clip in the premiership. but looks solid technically, mobile and seems comfortable dropping deep - possibly to occasionally create - which seems to be the way wenger prefers his front man to play. i wonder if wenger is thinking of him more for the outside (gervinho/walcott/arshavin) or up front (van persie/chamakh). the price being tossed about (10M) is certainly the preferred market spot for wenger. i don't know that i can think of safe bets in the 10 range (which sounds insane to me) unless he goes very obscure.
