Rumors are floating around about an eventual loan of Milan AC Taye Taiwo to Arsenal. Would be a much better option than Bridge.

somewhat related: apparently theo is at odds with the club over his new contract and wants 85k a week. seriously? there are no words. especially after yesterday's colossal screw up when ramsey put him through, a pretty good example of his quality in my opinion, he expects the club to pay this princely sum? he is a threat out wide and puts in good balls, but he has scored 2 and has 4 assists this season. are these the stats of a player deserving of that kind of wage? i'm not sure that we'll keep him with those kinds of demands.

Still worried about this move, local boy makes good @ FC Koln
then moves to mighty FC Bayern Munchen, but doesn't
pan out. Moves BACK to local club and shines again.
I think he thrives more when he is a big fish in a little pond
instead of swimming with other big fish.
    RvP is our big fish!

Which version of Podolski is Le Boss going to get?

One more thing, how much does Wenger "actually" have
in the transfer kitty? 20, 30, or 40, etc?

Podolski is not the first young player and will not be the last one who failed to perform at big club. The names of Bergkamp and Henry, of all people, come to mind.
However, he is having a great season at Koln and has proved that he is a powerful and reliable striker and goal scorer with the German National team.
He will check a lot of boxes for the Gooners:
    - He can play on the left or as the lone forward.
    - He is not CL cup tied.
    - His price is relatively affordable for Arsenal.
    - He is still young at 26 and seems to be peaking now.

In any case, we desperately need some addition upfront to take off some of the load from RVP and Podolski may be one of the best options currently available. I would be delighted to see him at Arsenal.

Funnily enough bent for 24mil is less of an overpayment than Carroll if they do that.

He's the guy they should have bought in the first place. I dont get why he doesnt get the type of pub and hype that Carroll gets considering his scoring record.

Liverpool have the biggest idiots controlling their transfers. Darren Bent for 24m, jesus christ. You could get actual quality with that. But then again, they don't believe in quality. Just English-men. :D I kid.

cuz Darren Bent fuccin sucks, lol.

I mean he better than Carroll but he can only do one thing, and thats play off the last man. And like Akindele12 always says, dude scores mostly meaningless goals.

Who would you guys prefer? Huntelaar or Podolski??

They arent very similar players but both guys are good options as a back-up striker and are available to play in the CL. Huntelaar has gotten his goal scoring back on track since joining Schalke while he was top scorer in the Euro qualifiers.

Podolski has also come into some form in front of goal and probably offers more to his teams all round play.

Im sure Huntelaar would cost more, the question is what do we need more? A seond reliable goal scorer or a guy who may pitch in with some scores now and again but also fills more gaps?

    Podolski

Huntelaar isn't that good a footballer outside of finishing. Not a good first touch which we need in this 433. Can only play in the penalty area. Granted we create a lot of chances (when healthy) but the top man in that 433 needs to kill the ball and bring in the wingers and midfielders. Podolski is a lot better at that than Huntelaar. Plus Podolski can play out wide while Huntelaar can only play central, so it's better for versatility reasons as well.

If we were playing a 442, then their would be a lot more of a discussion with me because I think Huntelaar would be easier to fit in than in a 433 and he can finish well, but def not in this formation.

Totally agree, Podolski is a much better all around player. Huntelaar has been overrated since his days at Ajax. As a matter of fact, I wonder if Arsenal is really chasing him. Podolski rumors make much more sense.

As a matter of fact, rumors are now spreading on Twitter that Arsenal and Koln have reached an agreement to sign Podolski for 13.5 mil. pounds.
We will find out if it true or not very soon, I hope.

PS. New informations from the Guardian. (Lots of posturing as well..)
Lukas Podolski reluctant to gamble Germany place with move to Arsenal

    • Gunners would need to double offer to at least €20m

There is also a report doing the rounds that he has postponed a sinus operation "due to an impending medical". The Bundesliga is on a 3 week break so its now or never for that operation, something is going on with Podolski and I hope we are heavily involved in that.
