We park in the street when we go. It's tooooo freaking expensive. I'd rather pay that money to a cab and not have to drive.

Yeah, that might be an idea. But look, I'm totally retarded when it comes to anything about engineering. I can't explain the most basic cause and effect phenomena to my 5 year old. All I know is that about three years ago I spoke to an engineer who is knowledgable about the area, and he said you could double or triple deck but that you would have to go really deep because the ground there is not steady and that's expensive. He didn't mention any other alternatives but I didn't ask him about the underground idea, as I am way too stupid to think of something like that myself.

I think that the Wilpons were interested and Garber knows it. He probably had talks with them, i know they've talked about putting a stadium in the parking lot at Citi field. the other 19 spots were looked at because obviously this isn't the only possibility and Garber had no idea when the Wilpons would get a settlement and for how much. Hopefully the wilpons are still interested in MLS. the can donate X amount of money to the stadium in the lot, Sela Sport donates X amount of money, NYC gives the rest (maybe nothing), Wilpons get a minority share in the cosmos (~20%) and can hold X (concerts, exibitions, other sports) number of events there, the cosmos can hold X amount of events at the stadium besides MLS, CCL or USOC, (Friendlies, All-star game, US national team, Etc). each side gets all the profits from the event's they host. Hopefully this will happen and the cosmos are in the MLS by 2014

If they start building this summer they could finish the summer of 2014 or earlier. it's only going to take 15 months for the dynamo to build their new stadium.

This is very true and the Wilpons are very hard up to get involved with the Concert Business- always was but the only issue I see is that they will not put a dime into soccer while they have a baseball team that is failing.

I can see the league paying the wilpons for use of the parking lot and MAYBE taking some off the payment to give them that 20 percent share but i can not see the wilpons spending money on a soccer franchise right this second. That can all change come later in the year if they go out and sign a player or two for the Mets.

I think they are still interested in the whole idea for sure, which is why they keep hosting soccer games. The Madoff thing worst is over and now they have some clarity but I would be shocked (as a mets fan) if they come out and start making this deal before singing some players and improving the Mets

Its not the actual building process I am worried about - its the red t ape political bullshit that goes along with everything. Im sure studies have been done in this area but once it gets to the community - someone will try to stop it. It will be a fight. Cant see them breaking ground for over a year maybe more.

If he can build at the parking lot the Don better be talking to him right now. where else in NYC are you going to be able to build a stadium with out anyone able to oppose it? i've got a new idea about the stadium lease. Sela sport probably wont want to give up any of their share of the team so, Wilpon gets a small share of any event held at the stadium 10-20% he can also hold any events he wants in the stadium. the cosmos, in addition to MLS, CCL and USOC and hold X number of events, but they have to be involving the cosmos, or MLS (All-star game, friendlies, tournaments, Etc.) and Fred still gets his share.

right - and at the end of the day - thats what wilpon wants.

Also - he might be able to get a say be able to get like a 50 million dollar payment for land use

The league would have to buy the land from someone else anyhow so it has to be budgeted already.

Also, Wilpon Has agreed to sell a minority share in the Mets for 200 Million, Which is around 40%. Maybe that with the 162 million dollar settlement means that he can turn his attention to soccer sooner.

Well hopefully built that money has already been spent on paying back loans to MLB, Bank of America and the other debts the team is in so that money is to get the Mets back to normalcy.

I really think their names are going to be back in the mix though - there is a good money making opportunity for him right now.
