Damn. Just searched on twitter and a journalist, I assume from Birmingham, said you could hear the snap from where he was sitting.
Shit. Does anyone know how long it could take for him to get back on track, if ever? What an awful thing to happen to someone so young.
all these breaks are different, but if youngsters like Ramsey and Zakuani are any indication, this is at least a year and a half on the shnide before any realistic chances of playing again at full speed. Just hope recovery parallels that timeline, and hope he can play/walk again without issue. I remember the Zakuani break on tv, watched it, heard it, it was terrible. This sounds like its on the level though
Man, that's just awful news. Will, I don't know if you look at BigSoccer at all, but here's wishing you a complete and speedy recovery! We're keeping you in our thoughts and prayers!
I was there. The vivid sound you heard on TV was nearly identical to the sound in person. You could hear it clear as day and I was 150 ft. away. It was very surreal and not something I want anyone -- player or fan to experience. My heart sank when I heard the news about Will. It immediately brought me back to seeing Zakuani.
Anywhere from 6 months all the way through to 12+ months depending on the severity of the breaks and every leg break is different recovery. Seems he's broken the fibia & tibula.
Damn that sucks. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery. Those who are following this, please keep us updated.
it must be pretty tramatic to keep playing after that, for either team. No one wants to play after seeing that.
I saw the reply on itv, you can't see the break, but you can hear it. Becchio jumped a little higher than Packwood and Packwood had all his weight leaning into the jump on his outside leg and when they both came down it snapped.
For those minded to watch, video of the injury. (Warning, its a sickener) http://www.itv.com/sport/football/a...eg-break-against-leeds-warning-graphic-video/
William Packwood @WPackwood For those asking, it appears I have a double tib+fib fracture. Broken in as many as four places. Long road to recover...but not impossible!
If Marcin Wasilewski can come back from a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula in 8 months, anything is possible.
Honestly, if they are just clean breaks of the bone and he doesn't have any ligament damage, then the bones can heal completely (sometimes bones even heal with a slightly larger diameter then before, making them "stronger"). There's a chance for him to come all the way back. Issue for Will is that it is going to take awhile and he's missing game time and development at a key stage in his career. Terrible luck for him and I really do wish him God's speed in his recovery.
This doesn't seem to work Stateside. Here's another: My hopes are high, but it's going to be a long road for Will.
