Will Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo remain the top two players for the next years?

Both Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo continue to elevate their game. This year, Cristiano Ronaldo has become more of a team player and IMHO, is playing his best soccer right now. I agree with Kaka who said recently in an interview with Kajuru that Ronaldo is the most complete player in the world today. Does that mean he is the best player right now? I don't know. The FIFA Ballon D'Or will go to Messi because he has had a better year. However, I think right now, both players are at the same level and in fact, in recent weeks, Cristiano Ronaldo may have surpassed Messi. It appears that both guys will remain at the top for the next three years. Do you think there is anyone out there right now who can challenge these two? I know we all have our favorite players but, please try to be objective.

First of all this is a joke thread.

Second Cristiano Ronaldo is not even the 2nd best player, yet alone surpassing Messi lmao.

Third Messi baring any major injury should remain in the top for the next 2 years at least, after that it depends how much some talents today (Neymar) will evolve.

I think Neymar is already better than Cristiano Ronaldo, but Messi still remains the best for now.

    Comparisons:
First it was (Pele vs Maradona)
    Then (Ronaldo 9 vs Zidane)
Next I think will be (Neymar vs Messi)

There is also Lucas Moura and Eden Hazard who can be in the Top 5 in a couple of years.

Neymar and Lucas Moura will become the best in a couple of years, but will they become better than Messi? I dont know. They have potential too. espically Neymar

    1. Neymar
    2. Lucas Moura
    3. Eden Hazard

Those 3 players will be the next big thing in my opinion :)

These two previous posts are just too funny.

Daniel96, Neymar already better than C. Ronaldo? I'm guessing 96 stands for your birth year. I'd reply, but you're probably 15 and obviously don't know any better.

MrSoccerplayer, aren't you the guy who had a thread that went on and on about how unjust it was that Ronaldo as considered the 2nd best player in the world even though he scores so many goals, has so many assists, wins all these awards, etc. etc. Haha you also don't merit a response.

As for the original question, yes, Ronaldo and Messi are head and shoulders above everyone else. Neymar may have the talent, but I don't see the drive in him that the other two had at his age. If he wants to stay at Santos till 2014, that's great, and I respect that, but he cannot have a shout out to be the best player in the world if he doesn't consistently challenge himself AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL all year around.

Also, I saw him at the Copa America and was very unimpressed, while Ronaldo, at the same age, was one of the best players at Euro 2004, against much harder competition.

It will be Messi vs CR7 for quite a while longer, I think. Of course, there are some young talented players like Neymar, Hazard and Goetze who can develop into more serious challengers, but I believe that the current top 2 have quite a big distance from the rest.

Neymar can't challenge them until WC 2014 or until he moves to Europe. Hazard and Goetze wont challenge them until they move to bigger clubs.

Also, don't exclude Xavi and Iniesta just yet....they still have more to offer, especially the latter.

On numerous occasions, I stated that Messi was better than Cristiano Ronaldo and that was true but, this season, Ronaldo has stepped up his game by continuing to score a lot of goals while also being a facilitator. His unselfishness has really impressed me. Maybe, Messi is still better but, as far as I see it, they are at the same level right now and in my opinion, he may have surpassed Messi in recent weeks. He has become a much more lethal force and has been able to score in a variety of ways. He has become a good free kick taker AGAIN just like in the old days at Man U.
As for Neymar, he is extremely talented and has the potential to become the best player in the world. He is the most entertaining soccer player in a very long time. I know the brazilian league is not a bad league but, it is not La Liga, the EPL, Serie A etc... Everyone knows the best players play in Europe and therefore, he has to come to Europe to prove himself. I agree with his decision to stay in Brazil because I believe he will become an even better player by the time he moves to Europe but, he cannot wait until 2014. If he moves by 2013, then there is a chance that he could dethrone Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo by 2014. It's not hype. The kid is really that good!

Lucas Moura is so underrated, no one here mentions him and he is as good as Neymar.

Lucas is one of the best talents in the world.

Your just one of those people who don't really know much about soccer and overrate someone just because he has good statistics.

You also overrate players that are from your country for obvious reasons, mr.BENEFICAfan.

Ronaldo is a great goalscorer and an awesome poacher but thats all he is, its funny some ppl used to say how limited Messi was ( 3 years ago ) but the thing is Ronaldo has changed his game alot to make himself into a more effective goalscorer but in the process he lost other parts of his game.

He never had great technique, his technique is a bit above average , neither a great first touch, but he was an awesome dribbler, agile, pacy and quick, but since he changed his game drastically now and gained some weight he has become less agile, less quick and he simply IS NOT an effective dribbler anymore, statistics speak for themself ( 1.2 sucesfull dribbles and 2 disposessions per game ).
In addition to his technique and dribbling, he also is not a smart player and has bad decision making. His passing is also nothing great, its average at best as is his playmaking, and just becaue he happens to have a bit more assists this season which he got by basically passing the ball 5 meters to the side infront of the goalkeeper most of the times doesn't mean he can play deeper and string deep defence spliting passes because he simply CAN'T.

At the end of the day CR is a great goalscorer but thats all he is, there are other playes who are more complete, have better technique and bring more to the team than he does, so while I still put him in top 5 or maybe top 3, hell maybe he even is slightly on top 2, its just stupid to say he is top 2 without questions and way above others, unless you are clueless.

Also those very few ppl that actually say hes better than Messi im sure are kids without any clue or die hard madrid/portugal fans, because you have to be completely out of your mind...

I think there is no doubt that Messi is better than CR7, And I personally think that Neymar is already better than CR7, if not he will be better very soon.

Neymar will be a better player to compare with Messi in a couple of years.

Both Neymar and Messi play similar
    - They are the best dribblers in the world, while Neymar is a bit more tricky which makes him more exciting
    - Fast speed and acceleration
    - Great agility to change directions quick while dribbling.

As I stated previously, Messi has had a better year but, in recent weeks, CR7 has caught to him. They are two different types of player but, they are now EQUIVALENT. Messi is far superior at dribbling but, CR7 can fire from a longer distance and is more lethal in the air. In recent weeks, he has gone back to being a great free kick taker again. I really think they are on the same level right now even though they have different styles.
Is Neymar really better than Cristiano Ronaldo? I am not so sure. He needs to learn to take free kicks and also stay on his feet. I think there are things that he does better such as dribbling and passing. I think that he is a better two-footed player. I am Neymar's biggest fan but, let's not crown him yet because he still has a lot of work to do. I don't see him getting to the top before 2014 unless he comes to Europe and play with the very best. In 2014, he can become the world's best if he continues to play well and he has a major impact in the world cup and Brazil wins the trophy. Otherwise, it will be Messi or Ronaldo. Players like Eden Hazard or Gotze will probably get a greater recognition if they move to big clubs like Barca, Madrid, Man U etc... and Neymar continues to stay in Brazil. Neymar is a special player who has the potential to go down in history as one of the best ever but, he has a lot to work on. Needless to say, he can't afford to have any major injuries.

Until 2014, it appears the two best players will continue to be Messi and CR7. I think Neymar may be #3 already and for a while, I thought there was a remote possibility that he could become #2 but, Messi and CR7 continue to elevate their games and have separated themselves from the rest for right now.

Neymar is defiently in the Top 5 today, and I think his free kicks are improving since Ronaldinho taught him :)
Recently I think Neymar has been taking his free kicks in the same standing position CR7 does with his legs spread wide, do you think Neymar is starting to copy CR7? because I hope he does not become like him.

I want Neymar to have a similar attidude like Ronaldinho, Ronaldo 9 and Messi have, I dont like CR7 becauses he is up himself and has a cocky attidude, so I hope Neymar doesnt become like him

You and Daniel96 are clearly still little kids who have no idea what they are talking about. To claim that a FORWARD isn't complete despite being the best goal scorer in the world, arguably the best free kick taker in the world, one of the best headers of the ball in the world, one of the fastest players in the world, etc. shows just how damn insane you are. It's been a fun convo, but you should probably get back to the sandbox.

You apparently haven't seen 'how humble' Messi has been recently. I would have to say that he is probably the worst sore loser in the game today. He is even a sore loser when he wins... but just not enough.

Unfortunately but Messi has developed a terrible character and honestly CR7 may be full of it, but he has more dignity to his game.

You have completely lost the plot. First off Messi has only lost once this season and that was with Argentina to Venezuela. Barcelona are undefeated this season in the league and CL. How has he developed into a sore loser when he rarely loses and has only lost once in months? "He's the worst sore loser in the game today"? Really?

Also, when has Messi given the middle finger to the public like Ronaldo did a few days ago? Dignity? You already lost any integrity a while ago now you've taken it to a new level. How exactly is anyone suppose to take anything you say seriously?

One would say... Neymar is now a TOP5 (if not TOP3) in term of TALENTS only - not rating per se ... as different approach and criteria involve

In term of ATTITUDE ... well Neymar has had a tendency of a 'cocky" type in CR7 which is a not so good sign - however he is still young and might get over with time like CR7 is now, he is getting a bit "better" (than before) - Ronaldo9 and Messi are good and smart youngsters - not necessary humble but well behave on pitch, in front of public.

So there are 2 major areas that Neymar can improve in order to get into the stardom: his physical shape and attitude (mature)

You see... for Messi (and Barca in general) drawing is losing. Or winning 1:0 and struggling against La Liga cannon fodder is as bad as losing.

You apparently choose to turn a blind eye on Messi's adolescent tantrums.

Haha sorry man, I'm a big Ronaldo supporter but I don't agree with that. Ronaldo can't control his emotions, although as many have pointed out, he's working on that this season, while Messi has always been pretty good at it. How Messi is off the pitch I'm not too sure of, although I have read reports he was pretty livid at the end of last season when Ronaldo passed him in La Liga scoring.

    Very mature.

Spitting, kicking balls at fans, constantly reacting like a spoilt brat... yeah...Messi is classy.

I really don't understand how you all rate so highly a player that has done very little in comparison to the "two best players in the world". In my opinion, nNice goals and flashy tricks outside football's biggest stages are not enough to put him on their or any other top european footballer's level; not even close.

You all seem pretty sure Neymar will step up his game and evolve accordingly. Not stating he won't, I hope he does; just bear in mind how seldom "exciting youngsters" live up to their hype.

On topic: They surely will, but it does depend on their team mates, you know, this is a team game and as such doesn't warrant constant discussion about which unit is the most effective hat-trick scorer, especially in such a one-dimensional (or should I say two-dimensional) competition. I think.

That's all you have to support your claim that Messi is "probably the worst sore loser in the game today"?? "constantly" acting like a brat because of 4 incidents from these 2 videos?

The RM - Barca matches are always hotly contested since Mourinho arrived at Madrid. Everyone's bad side comes out in those matches, not just Messi's.

    Haters r gonna hate!
