wrote this and thought you may find it interesting http://lovelyleftfoot.wordpress.com/2011/10/06/shouldnt-you-be-watching-serie-a/ some comments were made by a UK journalist on tv here recently, basically "what, you still watch serie A? nobody watches that. no quality, teams have no identity, it's the pits". it's in response to that
Sadly it’s a view shared by many football fans in the UK. Essentially, “I don’t watch it, but, I can definitely tell you it’s no good.” That's logic!
lol what exactly do they watch besides EPL? i doubt they watch la liga or bundesliga either serie A and bundesliga are competitve unlike EPL, LA Liga and other leauges...if they enjoy man u. thrashing teams every week with no competition more power to them but thats boring and one sided to me. And people to claim they are REAL football fans should enjoy different leagues and competitions...not just one.
When Serie A was the hollywood of football, the english still wouldn't watch because "...mate those dago's lack the pace mate" English are proud people
more like proud dick heads. England will never produce good Goalkeepers or good Managers they are blessed with brilliant Scottish Managers.
maybe english fans are missing the days Viali and Zola used to tear shit up in their league and yea england national team has always sucked, over hype for nothing and they never do anything. lol
sadly this is simply the english mentality, not everyone but the majority, they used to say the same shit in the 90's and the that the prem/1st division was the best league in the world , ingnorance is bliss
yes, and then when it comes to wc time where is their pace they speak off? oh the heat the heat, its not hot in italy then!? lol it was 6 overall iirc
I understand that..... But it still gives U.K fans 1 more reason not to watch Serie A Also, Serie A may have great games but the out-dated stadiums doesn't help the cause (Looks bad on TV) .
What do you mean by that? Who is really concerned about how the stadium looks on tv? The Prem is only a good league because of the foreign imports and maybe 3 English players. 3.
no it makes a huge difference... stadiums in premier league are small so the camera angles are much nicer, they catch the whole action and they move with the ball. As opposed to big stadiums in serie A where u can hardly see the other side of the field.
I agree with Daei. The stadium atmosphere is better portrayed on the EPL games. I think it is a combination of the camera views, the stadium being full, the crowd being closer to the action, and the sound picking up the fans singing better (in the Serie A games, the game action and the crowd sounds like its at a lesser volume and the commentator is just like dubbed over it; the commentators for the EPL matches sound like they're right there in the stadium because the crowd and the gameplay sound is so much louder).
People need to understand why the English have surpassed the Italian league. It isn't on the pitch, as Italian clubs have won as much if not more in the last 10 years as anyone else. It isn't in style of play, as Italian managers are still heavily imported in other leagues and National sides, and Internationally the Azzurri's accomplishments still outstrip the English. Its commercially. As Daei and others have said, English football is a great advertisement for the sport. The stadiums may be small, but they are full. The pitches may be tiny, but the players are blazing up and down them. The fans may be dumb, but they are loud. On tv, the product the Premiership is putting out hands down shits all over Serie A. And that means higher tv rights packages and more income to all the teams which improves their product on the field. The Italian league needs more stadia like Juventus, where its full every game and loud on TV. They need better marketing, design, and commercialism in the graphics and commentary department. They need to make stars like Pastore and Alexis Sanchez and hold on to them instead of selling them to other leagues and never replacing them. They need to promote and encourage clubs prioritizing their youth system so Italians have something to be proud of. They need to make going to a match more accessible and friendly so Italian fans can easily get tickets to a match and show up to midweek games because its FUN. There is a lot Serie A can learn from Premiership and, more so, the Bundesliga commercially. However, on the pitch they can't teach Italians anything at all.
I havent heard a word about Pastore since he left italy... Sanchez i have heard some stuff but not much.
He plays in France, how would you? What a sell out btw. PSG are the poor man's Man City. JAWZ, you bring up good points but seriously the games that are on TV are usually sell out games. Hell, even Novara Napoli was a sell out and you can hear the crowd. When I watch an EPL I don't hear anything, just OOOOOOOOOO and AAAAAAAAAAAAA, the crowds in England are dull for the most part and always seated. You want to see action in the crowd it's not happening in Big Brother England.
PSG got knocked out of EL today I hear way more than OOOs and AAAs are flares aloud in their stadiums? btw I think the language also plays a part, english being the lingua franca which makes it more viewable to many parts of the world
