People are entitled to their predictions. But if they turn out to be dead wrong (like those who thought Chelsea wouldn't conquer Europe), then they deserve to be laughed at. And anyone who tries to predict hypotheticals deserve ridicule as well.
Plenty of people thought Chelski wouldn't conquer Europe. It was not a very far-fetched assumption to make and does not deserve ridicule. They were wrong, but not wrong in a "that's stupid" kind of way. This, on the other hand, is hilarious and stupid. Proved to be hilarious and stupid by the recent EURO 2012 win. Period.
Why do people deserved to be laughed at for saying Chelsea wouldn't "conquer" Europe? They weren't really many people's picks to win the CL at the semi stage when Bayern, Real Madrid, and Barcelona were all still active in the competition, therefore it isn't really a crazy claim where people should be laughed at.
It's a little different to argue that the overwhelming favorites and one of the best NTs of all-time "Don't have a chance" to win Euros than saying the 6th place team in England won't win the CL. Not even Chelsea fans fancied Chelsea at the start of the knockout phase. And with good reason. They never won before, and crashed out of the group-stage a few months after.
