    Representing Cambridge United.

I'm only here for the WC forum, the word 'soccer' will put me off sticking around!

A good old fashioned traditional English word like soccer will put you off?

(OK, it sounds nasty, and anyone in England who says "I'm quite looking forward to watching the soccer this summer" needs to be kicked down a well, but apart from that...)
    nicklaino repped this.

Funny how people forget/don't know the word "soccer" originated in England.

I'm a lower league fan! My team's AFC Telford United and we're in the 6th tier of English football. I've just registered but can't post my own messages at moment until I've commented on a few others so that's exactly what I'm doing!! :)

Any Orient fans around here? I know it's L1, but we've been getting better, this season be damned right now.

Most fans I know, of lower league clubs, tend to stick with their own "official" club website chat forum.

There is no shortage of Charlton Athletic fans around, but we do tend to stick with our own company, and that's not surprising. If, for instance, you want to talk about Manyoo, there is a lot of them in the news and on the TV.... you will have plenty to talk about. If, however, I wanted to talk about (say) Chesterfield, I'd be hard pushed to come up with anything to say.

Even if I stuck to posting about my own club, who out there would have the faintest clue as to what is going on at The Valley..? And would they give a damn if they did..?

At least, when I post on the Charlton Athletic website, I know my message is being read by kindred spirits, and I will get a response from people who a) know what I'm talking about, and b) give a damn.

And that, my friend, is the long and the short of it.

If you want a thread you can make it yourself although probably not many people will post in it.

    Rotherham United. :)

Most lower league fans post on dedicated forums and there are a few networks like FootyMad who provide good fan run sites/forums for each team.

It's just that it hasn't really been called soccer here in more than a century, soccer was always just a nickname for Association Football.
