Any game that Lyon played except the game against INAC was a glorified friendly. Hence the reason club does not count as much as the major tournament games. It doesn't help that the vast majority of club games are not televised, and barely reported on. Voters will have a hard time comparing league games when box scores at best would be used for comparison.

So, if a player is the 14th best Olympic player and the 8the best club player she deserves to leapfrog players who were better in both categories?

    Makes no sense.

She played club that is the point. She did good playing club football period.

We beat the number #5 teams in qualifier, this doesn't make your case we didn't beat a top notch team in that match.(In the semi-finals we did in Olympics) I don't remember if you watched the match or not I'm just assuming that you did.

Messi's historic 91 goals are the biggest reason he won the 4th POTY award in a row, or do voters on the Men's side completely ignore league play in the way you are complaining about. They must since Ronaldo took all of the silverware from Messi this year. Messi won nothing.

Lyon matches weren't glorified friendlies. They played the top club teams in France, Euro and WCWC. I agree that it's difficult to compare league from a box score. There are way to view those matches especially if one in Europe or Asia. There's journalist that report on the matches actually, voteers can read those reports thur out the year.

I am sorry all of Lyon's matches except INAC, Frankfurt, and Potsdam are friendlies. Games won 11 -0 are not competitive, they are shooting galleries. Lyon has harder games in training. There are no other top teams in France. Even this year with PSG spending money Lyon has won every single game.

Makes perfect sense your putting more weigh on a player showing up for 6 matches vs an entire year of club and International football. Messi won for because of his year not because of his Copa America but the entire year performances.

I think we are done. If the #5 team in the world that won Bronze over teams above it isn't top notch, you have just spiraled down in to a logic-less abyss.

There really isn't much left to discuss.

Lyon have tough matches, not all there matches are 11-0. Are you saying the same thing about Barca, ManU, ManCity, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Dortmund of this season or last?

Do you view Barca winning 6 trophies in a year the same way as you view Lyon?

Your ignoring the fact. Did they play like a top notch team any time we played them this year other than the semi-final? It's a yes or no response. The rest of the year Canada played liek they were no different than a lower tier team.

The vote ended in Nov, so it got little to do with the record.

Yeah, that's why Canada and Japan came away with hardware and France and Brasil didn't.

Other teams with no hardware include England, Germany, ( did I mention Brasil? Didn't Marta play for them?).

You asked if Canada ever played a good game besides the Semi-Final. They beat both Brazil and France, those would be good games.

And that is exactly what is wrong with it. Best player or not she should not get on the list when she didn't have a good year. Hamm should not have won it in a year she didn't play with a bum leg. Marta should not be able to sit out a year and win on name recognition or because she is Marta.

    Does it matter?

She didn't win so it's immaterial really.

I was refer to Canada playing a good match against US. The qualifier, the 2 send away matches it was us the majority of the way. The Semi-final vs us was their best match against us all year.

Give it up and I won't make you buy for my friends, just me. There isn't much Pliny left anyway.

They also beat GBR (England) in England. ( didn't GBR beat Brasil? Why, yes they did.)

Canada had better wins than Brasil, both in Qualifiers, friendlies, and the Olympics.

    That's it.
