Iceland is (loosely) part of Scandinavia.

Why not have a pre qualifying tournament involving the minnows with the winner getting the opportunity to get slaughtered by CONMEBOL.

Iceland--on the border of the American and European continental plates

Surinam--Caribbean country. Are "Baltic" or "Mediterranean" countries all islands?

"Surinamese" players playing for the Netherlands--all either born in the Netherlands (Gullit for example) or moved there as very young kids.

The CONCACAF giants already do it, though it isn't exactly a slaughter.

Because Uruguayans weren't able to compete in the club tournaments in a competitive way, so they brought in the Mexican teams to spice up the tournament.

Iceland exists because of volcanic activity associated with the mid-Atlantic ridge. The mid-Atlantic ridge is the boundary between the European and North American tectonic plates. Geologically, Iceland is partly North American and partly European. It was settled by Norse Vikings and their slaves (especially Irish). It was a Danish colony until the First World War and retained the Danish Crown as head of state until the Second World War. It is a member of the European Economic Area and European Free Trade Association and has applied to join the European Union.

Geographically, historically, politically and economically, Iceland is European.

Suriname joining COMEBOL, would be a disaster for their regional strength and themselves locally, it would be like Brazil facing the US Virgin Islands @ home.

I am pretty sure Surinam is ranked higher than the Virgin Islands, I could be wrong.

You think does teams can make the Conmebol final?

If so, I guess Jaguares has a good chance.

Because FIFA has categorically made their position known time and again that the Football Confederations do not have to correspond to geographical conventions.

More importantly why the **** do Surinam prevent players who move abroad to play club football from turning out for the national team? They could be a powerhouse with guys who hit 25 and realize they have no chance of playing for Holland
