Sorry for the ridiculously long title, but that's my question. I am not a hard core gamer by any stretch of the imagination, but since I'm going to be traveling a lot next month I decided to buy a handheld system to pass the time in airports. I bought the PSP and the FIFA 08 game for it. But I was surprised to find that I can't play a World Cup or Euro Tournament on this game. Surely, FIFA owns the rights to the World Cup (I know UEFA owns the Euro Championships), so why can't I play it on the FIFA game? I also noticed that I can't play Champions League once I'm in Manager Mode, even when I manage top tier clubs (Real, ManU, Barca). What gives??
Hey nan. I have the same complaint. Fact of the matter is, the FIFA and WE series on the PSP are always a watered down version of the actual PS3,Xbox, (or whatever bigger consol) game. Maybe it's because they do not have enough space on the small discs to put all those game features on them? I don't know. But I've actually gotten fustrated enough now that I no longer buy the PSP versions every year now. I wait every 2 years or so to get a new FIFA or WE (depending on what mood I'm in). Every year they add something and take something else out. It's one step forward and one step back at best with them. So since I'm going to be disappointed with whatever game they release for the PSP, I might as well buy 1 every 2-3 years.
Because EA are money-grubbing thieves and they release independant Champions League / World Cup / Euro Cup games.
... But I do want to add this. The only reason I buy FIFA is because I want to play with the actual teams and/or the MLS teams. When it comes down to just plain playability and enjoyment the WE series is better. And I'm not just talking about field playability, I mean overall game playability (comparing players, looking up stats and information, setting up formations and strategy, creating International and club tournaments so you can create World Cups and Champions League, etc..) it's always been better in WE and the games have always seemed more exciting to me. If FIFA could adapt WE's play engine or if WE could just buy all the necessary team licenses that FIFA buys we'd have a real kick @$$ game. Which ever company comes up with that combination will blow the other out of the water.
