It's important to get a DP that actually plays and contributes regularly. That requires a few things: 1. The guy is playing a position that we need help with and fits into the SJ style. That is, you don't acquire a AM when you don't plan to have one in the formation, or to just let him sit on the bench as option. See Moreno. 2. He is not asked to play out of position. See Geovani. 3. The guy is healthy and able to play 90min every week. To a certain degree, see Hucks. Wondo is probably the best example currently in the team that fits all the requirements. We need someone of that nature but probably at different position.
Certainly, though nothing against Garza, but he doesn't possess the dribbling ability, touch and finesse of Tayeb. He has the pedigree of an Ajax youth product, and that's a great player to have on a team.
This. But realistically, do we think that the Quakes will spring for a DP for the '13 season? Maybe, but I bet not. They'll go with signing a new player or five, maybe one or two guys from overseas, And they'll market the hell out of season tickets with "if you have season tickets in '13, you will be guaranteed season tickets for '14 in our SuperSexyNewStadium." Then in '14 they may sign a DP. And what position would you spend the money on? Where would you upgrade? And imagine this equation both with and without Dawkins returning to the fold. GO QUAKES!! - Mark
I don't a DP Attacking Midfielder is needed. I've discovered Miguel Angel Sainz - Barcelona B player, 19 years old and costs $259,840. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/miguel-ngel-sainz/profil/spieler_142034.html Some highlights Pretty good free-kick taker Now that the Quakes didn't pick up the option to keep Khari Stephenson, Ramiro Corrales, Ike Opara, Tim Ward and Sercan Guvenisik, the three players I'd yearn to see with the Quakes (Chakib Tayeb, Mohamed Awal and Miguel Angel Sainz) are affordable, without the DP price of seven figures. The cost for all three is $519,680.
Oriol Rosell did, from Barça B to Sporting Kansas City. It makes sense for a young, talented player that struggles to get first-team play in his club, due to age or stacked squad, to come to a league like MLS to get playing time and some exposure. Or in Rosell's case, go to college also.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/blog/_/name/acmilan/id/694?cc=5901 okay, pie in the sky and perhaps a bit too pretty for San Jose, but MLS would do well to make a play for these guys as DPs. Id find it bewildering no one else in europe is wanting to take Pato or Robinho in.
honduran int'l maynor figueroa is available on a free transfer from Wigan in the summer. he is only 29 years old. we should get muma to give him a call http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...9/Out-of-contract-Premier-League-players.html
wonder how much he would want in wages? MLS doesn't like defenders on DP wages (remember the TFC/mellberg thing last year?)
looks like Christian Tiffert is available from Seattle: http://www.footballcourier.com/news...tuation-will-be-resolved-soon/full_story.html
i really dont understand the Hustedt cut, he looked better than our trialists. there had to have been somethign happening behind the scenes in the locker room. we are supposedly bringing in someone on loan, i assume to shore up that situation
