Their problem was choosing the wrong high priced talent. Zidane, Figo and Ronaldo certainly worked out well. Not to mention their performance domestically.

    Funny isn't it.

Most in the game seem to think that it was the failue to keep a certain single player, as opposed to the acquisition of several stars, that has been Madrids downfall.

Personally I think the race for 1st is going to be the most exciting that its been in years. Liverpool, ManU, Chelsea, and Arsenal all have League winning sides without a doubt. I feel sorry for Bolton, Sp*rs, and the like the champions league spots are pretty much on lock.

Man Utd is just like Boston Red Sox and LA Dodgers we develop our talent while Chelsea=NY Yankees they just buy, buy, buy. OK I just typed that to piss off the American Chelsea fans :)

Right now Chelsea is the obvious favorite. But I still have to see what the other big three do. Its important that Lpool,Man Utd and Arsenal start beating the lower level teams you hardly ever see Chelsea drop points to the bottom feeders

I can't believe this thread has gone three pages when it's totally obvious only one team has a chance at winning the title.

If, by some freak of nature, Chelsea aren't dominating the league by Christmas, Roman will simply get out the checkbook and make sure it happens.

Do you really think Maniche and Jarosik were that important?

Bah, Abramovic has enough money to buy the Premiership yet alone win it, he probably will buy it one day you know... Itll be called the "Abraminho Premiership" and will star one club Abraminho Utd, formely known as Chelski.

I wasn't talking about the past, was I? Have Chelsea really had a problem leading the Premiership in December since Roman became their Sugar Daddy? No.

I'm saying IF that did happen and you guys were only leading by a small margin, you can be sure that some mid-year changes will be made.

    Chelsea will walk it!:(
And dont be suprised if Shevchenko scores 40 Prem goals next season , he will get a lot more chances at Chelsea compared to the Defence minded Serie A

    I'm not sure that's true.

Great striker... but I doubt the EPL is any easier than SerieA overall. As much as anything because players diving isn't rewarded quite as readily. Not that I'm saying HE is a diver because I don't think he is but it might be interesting to see how many set pieces he scored from in SerieA even if they were gained by other players.

    We'll see I suppose.

    Hey, I hope you're right though ;)

You mean just like two years ago when we were about even with Arsenal at Christmas? Or three years ago when we were, again, just barely inching ahead of ManUtd?
Your assumptions have a slight problem of being completely opposed by past facts. Which makes that assumption effectively worthless.

Given Sheva's injury history, I can't see him scoring more than 20. I'll be a bit surprised if he gets 20, to be perfectly honest.

chelsea will win of course but it would be interesting to see some of their key players injured or what ever, then you would see what the team is really made of and could still cope.

But, strengthening your team in January is not a tactic invented by Chelsea, no?

It's a perfectly normal thing to do, if players are available.

In fact, before the transfer window poilcy was adopted, many of the big teams regularly took players during the winter, plus the periods before and after it.

Cantona springs to mind, didn't he transfer around Christmas?

I think it was around October/November time. It was certainly a good few weeks before the end of the year.

Well, thats exactly my point, really.

If there were a transfer window at the time, he would have come in January.

Again, it's not something Chelsea invented, it's always been done.

Why is it nobody thinks of this when it comes to Chelsea.
