I tend to agree. This looks like the weakest Brazil team that I can remember. OTOH, home advantage makes it tough to predict how far they will go.

Some have argued that this is the worst possible time for Brazil to host the World Cup - when they have their weakest team. I argue that it is the best time for them to host a WC. It would have been a waste for them to host in 1994 or 2002 or back in the Pele years. Now is the best time for them to be host because they could win #6 when they most likely wouldn't have won if the tournament was played anywhere else in the world.

Weakest? lolol you guys are smoking something..... it might some jealousy or hate but brasil will be one of the strongest if not the strongest team in 2014 and is not only because of homefield advantage.

Neymar, Hulk, Marcelo, Dani Alves, Ramires are along the best in the world at their respective positions easily top 3-5.

David Luiz, Lucas Leiva, Alexander Pato, hernanes, lucas leiva, luis gustavo are just a couple more good showings to be recognize also among
    the best.

Lucas Moura, Oscar, Alex Sandro, Danilo da sila, dede, Gabriel, casemiro, romulo, damiao, are recognized as being some of the top young talent all over the world and in two yrs times all will be representing Brasil. Only haters cant see the talent level brasil has for 2014 all they need is to gel as a team because right now they are just a bunch of individuals.

Fifa has Portugal and England as the number 3-5 ranked teams in the world right now and trust me neither of those team have half the talent brasil has not even close.

agreed. Theyre ovbiously capable of beating eachother and the germans atm should probably be regarded as stronger.

Agreed and good post but in regard to fifa rankings the only people who take them seriously are complete and utter morons.

Having loads of "top young talent" doesn't disprove my claim that this is Brazil's weakest team in memory. Brazil always has lots of top young talent, but they usually have 2 or 3 of the world's top 10 players to compliment that. Right now they don't have any real game changers.

But feel free to point out a Brazilian team that was weaker than the current version.

    Exactly...
World Cups are won by stars.
The only chance Brazil has, is if Kaka somehow miraculously comes back to his old, old form, which he hasnt seen in years... otherwise they'd be lucky to get to quarter finals.
The home crowd pressure will kill them.

average lolol see that shows you are just a hater list a better list from england.... only player from england that would make the brasil squad would be rooney maybe and he would be a bench warmer

lol stars neymar is already a star and a top five player in the world ,hulk is a world class player so is ramires and Oscar and lucas moura both will be world class by 2014, thiago silva is a top defender in the world so is david luiz, DEDE is on his way, marcelo and dani alves are both world class and top two or three fullbacks in the world.. alex sandro and danilo are on the way and will be top by 2014 the only thing that is missing from brasil is experience

but look what germany did in 2010 with a bunch of young and up and coming new guys

kaka is not going to be on the brasil squad in 2014 he got called for a friendly but he wont be there in 2014 this is neymar's team now along with lucas and oscar

So the weakest Brazil team you can think of is the one from 2 years ago? That almost proves my point that this is a weak team by Brazil's standards since there is a overlap of players. Although I would say César, Maicon, Lucio and Robinho have all dropped off from where they were in 2010.

One can even argue that Hulk was better 2 years ago and I don't think he even made the WC 2010 team. Now he's one of the stars on the Brazil NT. That says it all IMO.

Spain or Germany. Brazil's homefield advantage might see them through and Italy could be in the mix. But I really think it'll be one of those first two. They're just more talented and deeper than everybody else.

Only players from 2010 that might make the 2014 squad are ramires most likely thiago silva for sure and maybe an outside chance dani alves makes it but who knows if he can keep his form for two more years

Hulk, Pato, Neymar, Damiao are all better than the forwards from 2010 as a group and individually same as every other position there will be upgrades if you dont see it than i dont know what i can tell you are just blind, a hater or just dont know football

and hulk from two years ago was a relative unknown starting to show his talent now he is an established professional he is better today than he was back then

I suspect you're a young poster. Good luck to you, I'm sure the likes of Sandro, Ramires and David Luiz will lead you to glory.:)

sandro wont be on the team unless you are talking about alex sandro.... and david luz and ramires are better than anything england has at the position and the ones leading brasil will be neymar, damiao, pato, hulk, lucas moura and oscar

But you have to beat more than 'just' England to win the WC. Portugal, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Argentina and Netherlands are easily a match for that team, this won't be a 2002 with only 2-3 strong teams.

But will it be a 2002 where the refs reduce the field to only 2-3 strong teams to benefit the home side? ;)

This is why I have a hard time seeing Brazil not make it to the semifinals, even if they do lose to Spain, Germany or Italy at that point.
