Not entirely sure about their current run of form, but what I did see of Monterrey, they are still very dangerous. They have a history of incredible pride in this tournament... I smell danger from their corner.
Here are my favorites based on team quality: #1 UANL #2 Santos #3 Monterrey #4 Houston #5 Los Angeles #6 Seattle But as we all know, this is football and anything can happen. It won't matter how better the team is, how much possession it has, how many changes it generates, how many fouls they commit, all the matters to win the game is how many goals they score. Obviously, those of us who love football and are passionate about the sport, we demand quality football, clarity in the victories, not just opportunistic and lucky wins. Although they count the same in paper, there's an enormous difference.
my faves to win it all 1. Santos 2. Monterrey 3. Tigres.........Tuca is the reason I have them at #3 4. Herediano 5. Galaxy 6. Seattle 7. Xelaju 8. Houston
He might field an alternative/first team mix against Seattle, but against Santos he will field the first team, besides is not the same traveling from Mty - Torreon, than Mty - Seattle.
I am confident that the MLS sides can hold their own in the home legs but the question I pose on the Concacaf boards is how will they do in Mexico?. Last December, I thought that the Galaxy with healthy, and fully-committed performances from Keane, Beckham, and Donovan could possibly become the first MLS champion of this tournament but with two of the three either gone or unavailable, I can no longer see that happening. It is going to take a fully-stacked LA, NY, or Seattle to win this event someday, which will not happen in 2013.
