"Who the hell is..." Whenever I see that phrase I think back to when Barcelona won the 2006 Champions League. A waterlogged pitch had forced Barcelona to play a make up Liga fixture a few days before the Paris final; away to Sevilla. So with the Liga title clinched and Paris just days away Rijkaard fielded a number of reserves. And sure enough the same person who started this thread started another one asking, "Who the Hell is Ludovic?" lol So seeing this Messi thread title again just now had me wondering whatever happened to Ludovic. Not going to get into the discussion on Messi vs. Maradona/Pele/other all-time top greats, just saying lol at Cristiano Ronaldo being at Messi's level.
Just saw this thread. Absolutely brilliant title !! It's kind of funny that when Messi played his first game (friendly against Porto), which apparently prompted the opening of this thread, it was against Mourinho. Just found that out this past week.
Hm, maybe. But he wasn't on Messi's level either. And - shoot me for saying this - if I was a neutral commentator, I would have problems saying the real Ronaldo really was better/much better than Cristiano. I dunno. I mean, Cristiano is a lolworthy LPB *******, but I give him a lot of credit.
i'd say he reached the same heights on occasion, for example his one season with barca and his WC accomplishments, he also did a few things for LPB. he just had too many low points in his career to compare to messi's level of non-stop consistency. with more luck with injuries, and some wiser life choices, the real ronaldo's career could have been so much more. i guess i'm both agreeing and disagreeing with you.
