I know it's a FIFA date, but I do think that maybe we move this bad boy to the states or a neutral pitch in Germany. I'm sure even the Ukrainian team may be down with this. http://www.kyivpost.com/multimedia/photo/clashes-on-grushevskogo-335240.html http://www.kyivpost.com/content/ukr...laws-considers-possible-sanctions-335248.html
The other little piece of information in that story is that US Soccer apparently wants to play our pre World Cup friendlies on the West Coast. Who on earth are we going to get as opponents in West Coast games? I think it's entirely possible that we will get similar to 2006 when we played teams like Latvia and Morocco.
What is this, a joke? No one is willing to fly to the West Coast? Really? It's too onerous or they just don't like the West Coast? Really, just plain confused by this sky-is-falling routine.
Plus we should train in the time zone closest to Natal, our first match location. Florida/East coast is two hours behind Natal's time. LA is 5 hours behind time in Natal. It doesn't sound like much, but it will take 2-3 days to adjust after we arrive, which will waste valuable training time. It would actually be best to train in North Carolina - hot but not humid in May. I believe we trained in Cary, NC before 2006. (Carolina Railhawks' facilities.) Atlanta Silverbacks' facilities is another option.
Yes, its a problem. The teams in the World Cup are focused on moving from their team camp to their base in Brazil, the West Coast is out of the way. South Korea is out. They are a group H team, giving us a look with their B team in February isn't the same as giving us a look at their full roster in May. Honduras is already playing games in Miami so they are out too. I suppose Japan is still an option. But, you are looking more at teams like El Salvador, Canada, a nice "friendly" friendly with Mexico right before the WC.
Completely disagree. I'm sure there are plenty of strong European and African non-WC participants that would be willing to fly out to the West Coast for a paycheck. And probably some participants also.
