There are many great United legends, but who do you think is the face of the club as a whole since its existence. Now just now, but every since United was first formed, who is the best player to have ever played here?

    -Ryan Giggs
    -Paul Scholes
    -Busby Babes
    -Eric Cantona
    -Roy Keane
    -Ole
    -Bobby Charlton
    -George Best
    -David Beckham, seriously.

Many more. My say is Giggsy because he is the most decorated United player ever.

Teddy, just because I Love him. But on a serious note, i dont think their is a greatest I think it needs to be divided by Posistions. For Example the Great Dane was probably they greatest Keeper we've ever seen

Although I can't completely discount Sir Bobby's opinion about Duncan Edwards.

Since I've never seen Best or Edwards or Charlton play (not counting highlights/descriptions), my vote goes to Cantona.

And I always thought that name referred to a group of players. ;)

You can't base it on that. Giggs is great, but he is the most decorated because he came on at the perfect time, at the beginning of the most dominant era we've had.

That I've seen play in my lifetime - Cantona.

That being said, if I'd have to go all time I'd go with Best. I have footage from back then, including the night out at Wembley, and he was something special.

Wouldn't speak on Duncan Edwards, as I've never seen him, but if Sir Bobby and more importantly NM say him than he must be special.

I was watching the United game today vs. Sunderland at my friends house, and he is a United fan, but not really too much into it like we are, I always have to explain things to him because you learn A LOT from being on this site. Anyway he said what do you think would happen if all of Manchester United died in a plane crash, well all the players. I mean first he asked if wether or not they fly to games or if they drive. So I said both. Anyway I told him well a plane crash did happen... The Munich Disaster. He was in shock! I always knew about it but I never really knew the deatails until Tom's article... So I told him Sr. Bobby Charlton is one of the few that survived etc etc. but it was still very ironic that he asked me what would happen if something like that did happen, and him finding out that it actually did happen.
Think how it would effect us if Rooney and Ronaldo were to die in a plane crash:(

Lets all hope another disaster like this never happens to any team in the world.

No one ever seems to mention Denis Law in these discussions. I don't know why.

    Sorry mate.

Suppose the history forum is a decent idea so even if nothing else, people can learn things?

    I'll leave it at that.

I am young, i never really experienced the greatness of Duncan Edwards or George Best.
For me and my short life it has to be Roy Keane. I think he has meant more to the club then anyone. Not the most technically skilled player, but he had the heart. I don't even need to go into it, this is Keano were talking about.

The thing is, no many got to experience Duncan Edwards. He never fulfilled his potential, which was, by all accounts, extraordinary. Since his life was cut short and his footballing career never reached its highest level, it is hard for any of us to place him at the top. That being said, by all accounts, he would have been the greatest player to don the kit.

And since Duncan can't be it, it has to be David Beckman. Boy, is he dreamy.

Busby Babes was two players. You can't choose them.

Why hasn't anyone voted for Michael Owen? He's a superstar.
