The title is simple. Who do you think is the best Balkan player of all time?

I'm quite young so express your opinion even if your player isn't on there. The list is for the players in the younger generation.

Romania is not always listed in the Balkans. Not in modern sense anyway...

As a goalkeeper myself, Dražen Ladić was something of a hero of mine.

But I shall vote for Boban...

I wondr why Hagi is not there. For me he is the best Balkan player. And yes, Romania is considered a balkan country, maybe not a typical balkan country but yet.

Prosinceki was the biggest talent, but I will go with Suker.

And no Stoichkov either. But as was restated here the poll is about the best Yugo player. Even the best Yugo player title is a misnomer. This is the best "Croat or Serb" player of all time cause otherwise Srecko Katanec of Slovenia should have been there.

For me the best Croat or Serb player has to be Dejan Savicevic.

Mijatovic doesnt deserve to be on the list, so as Mihajlovic.
You should have put Rajko Mitic, Stjepan Bobek, Bora Kostic and Dragan Sekularac. Those are true legends of Yugoslavian football. But I'd still have voted for Dzajic ;)

I admit Pancev was great. He won the golden boot in 1991. As for Ibrahimovic, he's supposedly Swedish... :D

Darko Pancev is most flop of italian's football history with Luther Blissett.
Dejan and Zorro are my balkan (and not only) favourite football player.

I remember a very technical player of Serbia: Predrag Ognjenovic.
Plays he in Dynamo Kiev now?

It's Perica Ognjenovic. His career is a disaster, he could have become a fine player, but...
After Red Star where he almost became a star, he left to Real Madrid(BIG mistake), of course he played almost nothing there, after Real he changed several clubs including Dynamo, but he just couldnt get back to old shape. After that, he left to China, and now I think he doesnt play at all(but I'm not 100% sure, I know he was free player on summer).

He is actually in the Kiev reserves right now and is trying to rekindle his old form. He was an interesting player playing down the right flank as well as center forward. He reminded me a little bit of Maradona, not in his capacity to play but his height was about the same. He was quick and could get throught a defence quickly but as you rightly say going to Real Madrid was a mistake... But you only get one shot at glory don't you? And he took it, although as with all things in life unlike the movies, there is failure. I think it would be best for him to come back to Red Star Belgrade, an environment he knows well and try to rekindle his form there because he knows the club and they would give him time to do so. Everywhere else he'll be asking himself... why aren't I playing right now leading to pretty bad confidence level.
