No word on Blake but Jamaican F DeShorn Brown, who spent one season at Central Florida after two seasons at NAIA Mobile, signed a GA deal. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...two-more-players-2013-generation-adidas-deals

This one is kind of personal for us regulars here at BS' college soccer forum. Akron So. D DeAndre Yedlin has signed a homegrown deal with the Seattle Sounders. http://www.soundersfc.com/news/articles/2013/01-january/deandre-yedlin.aspx A big congratulations to DeAndre and his family. You know who you are! Don't forget us now that you're big time.
Ives is saying the rumor mill has Serna close to a HG deal with Colorado, too. #Don'tShootTheMessenger!
Not to worry my friend I will be lurking here to put in my two cents about the ZIPS and other aspects of college soccer. It is all very exciting and a dream come true for DeAndre as he gets to come back home to play.
You do not need to leave us just because #17 did. Do you, by any chance, have any other grandchildren you might send our way? Just a short term loan......
It's been speculated about for awhile so it shouldn't come as a surprise but Ives just tweeted that Akron Fr. M Dillon Serna has signed a homegrown contract with the Colorado Rapids. Ives Galarcep @SoccerByIves As if Colorado's draft haul (Deshorn Brown, Dillon Powers) wasn't good enough, I'm told they've signed Dillon Serna to Homegrown Player deal
To be fair, a lot of this comes from Akron's staff. At least ours was told that regardless of CP coming back or not, both CP and JE would advise that he leave for the pro ranks.
The better coaches tend not to hesitate to encourage their players to go pro when they're ready. That, in turn, builds trust and leads to more top players coming to the program. Of course, not all coaches see it like this. Not to name names.
Please name names. I want to know. Your secret is safe with us. Assuming Tank is truthful.... I legitimately feel much better knowing both CP and JE advised Yedlin to bounce. They would know. And I agree, the cycle continues. Play @ Akron, conduit to the MLS!
That's a start. John Kerr, Jr. seems to be quietly in that group. I've heard whispers, but nothing solid. And Simon Tobin, last year, suggested Gyasi Zardes was better off coming back for another season despite having an offer on the table for the Galaxy.
Daniel Stanese - Vancouver Whitecaps academy grad - leaves Florida Gulf Coast University after freshman semester to sign with FC Nuremberg reserves.
Did anybody else know about this? Apparently Michigan's Luke Coulson, a freshman from England leave mid-season last fall and he signed with Cardiff city and next year could be playing in the Premiership after Cardiff's recent promotion. http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/042413aac.html
Wow, Michigan taking credit for that one month vacation in the states (six games) by kind of saying they have helped produce a Premiereship player. Quite a stretch.
Here's the quote: "We are proud of Luke and his progress that began here at the University of Michigan," said head coach Chaka Daley. "Myself, team staff and his teammates are happy to be a part of his journey to fulfilling his dreams in playing in the English Premier League, and his quest to be a footballer at the highest level." AMAZING!!!
