IMO the WC 2010 will be very similar to 2002 and unlike 2006 which was so euro dominated. I think at least 2 or 3 so called big boys will be making a first round exit like France and Argentina in 2002, we will also see a few teams who are not the usual suspects in the quarters and even semis.

They could score a big upset against the seeded team of their group, or they could advance as a second place team and get say France as an opponent in the round of 16. That could take them into the round of 8 where the glass slipper should fall off.

Uruguay is another team that is poised to shock. They went to the wire to get here, but now they are here they could well surprise and go to the final four.

I honestly think that this is the strongest I've seen South America in quite some time. I'm really only down on Argentina in the confederation. Being from Brazil, I've seen all of the Brazil games and some of the other matches. All of the teams are capable of winning their group. Chile had the top offense in qualifying and they have arguably one of the strongest midfields in South America -- perhaps only behind Brazil -- although Chile's midfield is a bit knocked up at the moment. And Suazo was the leading goal-scorer in qualifying -- 10 goals. Paraguay and Uruguay also have some pretty good forwards. Ultimately for these teams -- with the exception of Brazil though -- and Argentina (at certain positions) -- if one of these forwards or key MFs goes down, it's quite a big hit for them.

Top prediction for the S.American sides. In particular with the key forwards observation. Had Suazo been fit we would be playing Portugal instead of you guys in the round of 16.

I am sure everybody notices who leads Soccer in the world. Uruguay will go home Tuesday evening, you can be sure of that. This means World Cup will go to Europe, no doubt. I dont beieve that anyone will argue on that.

Before the WC, I went through the entire World Cup and predicted every game. My Semi finals were:
Netherlands-South Aftica
Spain-Germany

My Quarter finals were also pretty good. Again I had SA instead or Uruguay and Cameroon instead of Paraguay, but the others matches were all correct.

My round of 16 was pretty bad though. The only matches I called correctly were Brazil-chile and Netherlands-Slovakia.

They will not skip the game, they will loose and go back home. Because they are not playing Soccer, they are just fighting. Ex.: Ghana, Paraguay, Australia and many other nations were trying to fight and disturb the the game of the opponent. For a limited extend some were successfull but later when they meet higher tactical Soccer Nations, they had no chance. The last one is Uruguay and I personally believe that Uruguay can only fight against Netherlands and finally tactic of Netherlands will 90% win. This is my Soccer knowledge and democratical opinion.

Uruguay. The deserved only CONMEBOL semifinalist. They have a tough road ahead of them and will likely struggle for 3rd place, but I'm happy for how far they've come thus far. I hope they put in a good game against NL.

(Response to your sidenote: Looking back with the benefit of replay and hindsight, any objective glance at the game's last minutes should show that play should have stopped before the handball. Ref's human error. Ghana doesn't "deserve" anything)
