"While Whitecaps FC is concluding their preseason, Carolina RailHawks are beginning their own, as Sunday’s match will be the RailHawks’ first match of 2013.

Carolina will want to improve upon their 2012 fourth place league finish and have built a squad that intends to challenge for the NASL title this season after exiting the 2012 playoffs with a 5-4 aggregate defeat in the semifinals to eventual NASL champions Tampa Bay Rowdies.

The RailHawks are a familiar opponent for Whitecaps FC due to the extensive playing history between the two sides in USL-1 and USSF-D2. Also of note, several Whitecaps FC players and staff are ex-RailHawks. Head coach Martin Rennie and assistant coach Paul Ritchie were formerly at the helm of the Carolina outfit. Former RailHawks players include goalkeeper Brad Knighton, centre back Brad Rusin, midfielders Matt Watson and Jun Marques Davidson, and striker Tom Heinemann."

We know Nick is with KC on trial now, and I don't think we resigned Elenio or Lowery. Shame to see them go, considering we need some defense.
