I think there's a game this weekend... ...Will Irwin start? ...Will Sanchez sit (turf)? ...Does the turf mean Buddle also sits, and maybe Torres gets a start? If he does, will he see the ball? ...If Burch is out, will Piermayr start at left back? ...With Wynne out, presumably O'Neill slides over to take his place. Who starts at right back?
--If Irwin and Torres don't start, then it is time (as someone said after the last game) to seriously question PM's decision making. --Why not O'Neill stays at RB and Watts takes over at CB? --I hope Buddle does play and Brown slots in behind him with Torres on one side and Chavez on the other. If Sanchez plays at all, let it be sparingly as a sub.
Do we know which side Piermayr plays? If we are ever going to see Mullan on the pitch, you would think this would be the game. I'm guessing we see Van de Casteele play in the middle and keep O'Neill out wide before that happens. I think in general, Sanchez is probably going to be on the bench to start most road games, but will start on the field for home games.
But according to the article I linked in the other thread it is Neeskins might be the one starting if they can figure out a contract. For me Pablo is just as unpredictable with his line ups and subs as OP was. So who knows what will happen?...
Hard to predict for game number 4, but I think at game 20 We'll have a good clue. Also, I don't think OP was all that wild either.
Subs at least were for me. I keep seeing people ask about Mullan, but, isn't he still rehabbing from injury. Seems like anytime I hear about him he is not in practice or off to the side jogging. And true only game 4 hopefully there will be some more normalcy later on.
People were completely thrown off by this week's completely convincing action shot of a patented Mullan side tackle. He's looks ready to go:
Well, I think that we will see Watts starting again, just this time probably as an outside fullback. Could Sturgis start as a fullback too? I would personally like to see how a two forward system works out and would like to see Torres and Brown both starting as forwards. The lineup is tough to predict this time, but this is what I think is most likely if Sanchez and Buddle don't start or play as much on turf (as some have suggested): -------------------------Irwin--------------------------- ---Sturgis--------O'Neil-------Moor------Watts----- -----------------------------Mari----------------------- ---------------LaBrocca-------------------------------- ---Chavez---------------Powers-----------Torres----- ----------------------Brown---------------------------- Subs: Sanchez, Buddle, Eloundou (debut?) Other bench players: Berner, Piermayr, VandC, Hairston, Hill Prediction: I think this will be our toughest game so far, given injuries and facing an improving Vancouver team. I'd be happy to come away with a tie, but I think we lose this one 2-0.
With Turf and makeshift backline, have to agree with the MLS "experts" poll, Vancouver for the win. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...om-editors-and-cobi-jones-pick-week-5-matches
My family and I were walking to the parking lot after the Rockies game today and apparently we walked past Marvell Wynne. We were walking north on Wewatta (or is that Denargo St at that point), he was walking south towards Park. I was talking to my Dad and didn't see him; my wife saw him but didn't say anything to him. I guess he's got some extra free time this weekend.
2-0 loss. I don't see a whole lot of opportunity in this game. Even a draw should be considered a good result. But maybe this is where Pablo shines. I remember a game close to 10 years ago where he and a an iffy back-line defended a 1-0 lead against LA while down 2 men to get the win. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2014/04/first-of-canadian-doubleheader.html
I don't think that the player selections or subs have been bad. I agree it would be nice to see Torres in place of Buddle. But my perception with Torres is that he doesn't get much service or connect well with others....his goals are created on his own ability but I don't think that he makes others around him better. Trying Buddle in a central target player type role made sense to me, and while he did impress with his ability to hold defenders, he couldn't seem to make any dangerous connections in that role. Maybe it's time to see what the little fella can do.
I thought for sure Neeskens would have been signed yesterday and we would be seeing he and Pietmayr as the outside backs. Since he hasn't, I'm guessing the following Buddle Brown - Powers - Torres LaBrocca-Mari Pietmayr-Moor-O'Neill-Sturgis Irwin I'm guessing a 2-2 tie. We get one pk and a corner. Sturgis gets exposed at RB and is responsible for two goals. Vancouver will feel they should win, but Irwin will steal the point for us.
(4-4-2): Irwin; Piermayr, O'Neill, Moor, Burch; Jose Mari, Sturgis, Powers, Hill; Brown, Torres I like this lineup except that it's brand new and the gelling might take a bit.
I haven't seen Hill do anything productive for quite a while. Sturgis in and I'm guessing Watts is depth for the back line. Good to see Torres with a start.
Bench: Berner, Watts, Van De Casteele, Hairston, LaBrocca, Chavez, Eloundou Sanchez and Buddle both stayed in Colorado for this trip due to it being on turf.
I think those were Vancouver fans singing that. I thought it was Rapids fans as well, but where we would normally say Colorado, they were singing Vancouver. Didn't know they sang that, doesn't sound right.
