The Slovenian coastal cities (in addition to Piran there is Izola and Koper; which I'll put a couple of pictures of below) don't have commercial airports; Most people fly to Trieste, then take a coach or hire a car. You can also fly to Ljubljana though it's farther away and usually more expensive, I think (maybe not anymore).

From Trieste to Piran is about 45 minutes. The other 2 towns are worth a visit too and their are beaches and resorts between them. Ljubljana I think is 2 hours or so by coach, but Slovenia is pretty small and has a well developed infrastructure. So if you have a car you can be hiking or lake fishing at Bled in the morning and having a glass of wine on the waterfront in Piran that evening with plenty of time in between. Which is another big advantage over Croatia (rather poor infrastructure though they are working on it, and due to its rather interesting shape many things are quite remote from one another.

Izola- very nice town and fishing village, similar in size to Piran

Koper- has a nice, though someone more rustic core, surrounded by the countries only major port. The center has some really interesting historical sights, but the city on the whole is the least nice of the 3.

Slovenia should really be paying me for this...

This makes me just want to quit working and travel for the rest of my life. There are so many places that are a must to visit it's impossible to combine with a regular job. I think I'm going to make a top 10 and just start going through the list.

next year is my 25th wedding anniversary. My wife and I are thinking about a 14 day trip down the danube and Rhine. That will take care of a few places on my "places to see list"

If you want ladies, Almaty in Kazakhstan, Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan or Moscow in Russia.

St Petersburg, Paris and Sydney are on my list of most beautiful cities. Kunming in China is on my list of least favourites.

The most beautiful cities in the world; Chicago, New York, Toronto, LA.

European cities aren't as beautiful as cities in North America. But I think Florence, Rome, St Petersburg, Prague and Budapest are the most beautiful among European cities.

Beauty is absolutely in the eye of beholder.
I have two eyes just like everyone else.
It is widely known that New York, LA and Chicago are much fabulous and extravagent than Paris, Rome or London.

Please do not dsiplay your ignorance here.
I have visited these cities numerous times for business trip.
Chicago, LA and NY are absolutely better than stupid small cities like Paris, London and Rome.

By the way, Paris! There is nothing special about Paris.
But at least, Paris is better than Tokyo or Osaka from Japan.

Everybody's entitled to his or her opinion, but this seems like a blatant attempt at trolling. Discarding Paris and London as stupid little cities, and praising Toronto and LA?!? as among the most beautiful cities in the world? Who are you trying to fool?

I've lived in Paris for a while so I'm biased toward that city. London and NYC are both great places, although beautiful isn't the right word. Buenos Aires deserves a mention as well I think.

I never visited Chicago, so can't comment on that.

I've been to Paris, London, Rome, New York, Chicago, and LA. And I can firmly state that to me, and probably mostly everyone else, the first three are far more beautiful. LA in particular is mostly hideous.

I haven't been to very many places but for me it's Paris.

Valparaiso, Chile interestingly has a few votes on this thread. I just came back from there. It is a nice city but I don't think it deserves to be in the running for the most beautiful in the world.
