Nominate your favorite city, or the one you consider the most beautiful, with pictures from it. Lets see which ends up being counted the most beautiful city in the world? My nomination, admitedly biased, goes to Isfahan. Isfahan, located in central Iran, is a historic city of around 2 million people. It was made the capital of Iran under Shah Abass of the Safavid Dynasty (1501-1725), who adorned the city with numerous architectural sites. The inhabitents of the city, which include many members of my family, used to say: "Isfahan, Nesf-e Jahan" (Isfahan, is Half of the world). I will post most pictures later, depending on the competition. The Khajou Bridge The Shah Abass (now 'Abbasi') former Caravansarie, now 5-star hotel View of Isfahan's historic main square
San Francisco's the most beautiful city that I've been to. Honolulu & environs a close second. A lot of people say Paris is the most beautiful. And of course you'll have tons of NYC supporters.
Dumbest thread ever. Pure speculation as to what is the most beautiful city in the World. This is just another way for IM to spout BS about Iran. Once again, if you are so enamored with the place, then move there. Why stay in the states when you obviously want to live in Iran. Be honest, you stay here cause the money is better, the food is better, the way of life is better, everything here is better that is why you stay here.
This is a beautiful view. Sadly, you don't get this view too often nowadays because of all the smog that got blown in from southern China.
I googled "world's ugliest city" and I swear this was the first thing that popped up... No offense IM...
Well, I just googled "world's most beautiful city" and got Venice. Oddly enough the site was in arabic....... Mel, I did - "world's ugliest city" and got LA.... stop telling porkies to get IM riled. I'll probably go Split in Croatia. Mind you Rijeka is pretty nice too.
If you read the article, you would see it is from an Iranian who doesn't like change or modern architecture. Specifically, he is complaining about: Tehran, IMO, is not the most beautiful city, but it is certainly not the ugliest:
And I would hope you would nominate a Korean city, so we could learn about it as well. There are folks here from all parts of the world, and it would be nice if we learned from one another instead of spent time trying to just insult each other. BTW, I nominated what is Iran's richest city architecturally, where I have a lot of family besides. Iran has a lot of scenic towns and resorts, each borrowing from the beauty of the landscape on which they are built. But Isfahan's beauty is all man made; historically significant architectual sites that made a city built in central Iran where -- unlike the northern coastal towns by the Caspian sea and some other places -- the landscape is not particulary noteworthy but the city nonetheless is among the most beautiful in the world. More from Isfahan Even in the 17th century, Isfahan would look a lot like this (except the middle of the square was a polo ground back in the 17th century):
