Just wondering, do we stick with this expansion forum, or move to the new NASL forum? Sport Billy, you're a moderator. What say you?
If you go to the customer service forum, there should be a thread where you can request a new ACSTL subforum in the NASL forum. I asked if this forum could be moved to that place =-)
Sport Billy and I (NASL Mod) have talked about having both or just moving this forum over to NASL. We kinda didn't make a decision. Like SiberianThunder said, if you want to make the decision for us, go post on the Customer Service forum.
Personally, I think that creating a new STL forum in NASL is a great idea. However, I don't really want to see this one "moved". The vast majority of these posts relate to MLS. It simply doesn't make sense to move all of it to a NASL subforum. Additionally, Cooper stated yesterday that MLS is still a goal. I just think that we should keep this forum going for MLS related discussions and have a new one for NASL/AC STL related stuff.
I also agree, but if you guys decide that EB will be a supporters group for ACSTL then it should probably get moved, since most EB topics will relate to the current team.
AW: Re: Which forum to use? I don't think it makes any sense to have two St Louis forums basically dedicated to the same ownership group. If there were a separate StL NASL forum it would see the bulk of StL men's soccer discussion, and even if any MLS news comes along to be discussed in the expansion forum it would probably get crossposted to NASL anyway. It seems to me that the same people would be visiting both forums, and there's not so much traffic that it couldn't be consolidated into one, so why bother with two? Until there's enough MLS news that it impedes NASL discussion, I think we'd have one forum that people actually use, and one that sees one thread every six months or so. One "MLS Expansion" thread in the NASL subforum should get the job done for the foreseeable future.
Re: AW: Re: Which forum to use? You know what, I was just thinking that. On the other hand, I don't want to give up our expansion slot just because we got an NASL team, because while Big Soccer forum placement doesn't really matter, it would look like we're settling for NASL and don't care about MLS anymore. Would it be possible to have two separate links to the same forum? Basically, an ACSTL category in the NASL folder and keep the STL subforum in MLS expansion cities, but with all the same threads. Two ways to get to the same place.
Re: AW: Re: Which forum to use? Personally, I don't care about keeping shelf space in the MLS expansion forum. That only matters in the world of BigSoccer status, which if it actually exists I don't care about it.
Re: AW: Re: Which forum to use? But you are assuming it would be the same ownership group, but that is not necessarily the case. Any one with cash could step up at anytime. Look at Seattle, they were going nowhere until Roth said "Hey, I want a team." For all we know, there is somebody waiting in the wings and didn't want to step on Cooper's toes who might think now that Cooper has NASL going, I'll give it a shot. We already had one group independent of Cooper make a stadium proposal. Now that USL is crumbling, maybe Glavin and his investors give MLS a shot. Neither MLS nor Cooper have stated that St. Louis is no longer a "Candidate City". In my opinion, we should have: MLS: Expansion > Candidate Cities > St. Louis and USA > NASL > St. Louis and either MLS: Expansion > Candidate Cities > St. Louis > Eads Brigade or USA > NASL > St. Louis > Eads Brigade I don't care where Eads goes, but it's probably easier to just leave it where it is - people will figure it out.
Re: AW: Re: Which forum to use? I'm not assuming that MLS would be under the same ownership group, so much as I am assuming that there won't be another ownership group soon enough and firmed-up enough to merit keeping an extra forum around. If the MLS/STL forum will lay mostly dormant for a couple years, it seems better to just remove it for the interim, and if needed some day bring it back. I just don't want to be compelled to check an empty forum every day just in case there are updates.
Re: AW: Re: Which forum to use? Thus, one forum, two links. It's all the same people posting, so it'll be consolidated, while having everything in one area, thus taking away the need to navigate through two places. But, the subject matter we'll be talking about will be relevant to both categories. Then if we ever do get an MLS team, there'll be enough non-crossover stuff to go around to split the forums up.
Re: AW: Re: Which forum to use? Noted. Keep expansion the way it is. Time to get an ACSTL forum in NASL. Don't really like searching through everything for threads of interest. Customer service, here I come.
Re: AW: Re: Which forum to use? Thats the way I think it should be. Either way we need a sub-forum in the NASL. I don't like all the different places people have to post. Whats holding this back. Lets get this done.
