Pamela Anderson... Nikki Cox... Of course I think that Pamela Anderson produces her own shows now. I see definite possibilites Pamela has a new shoe in the works + Pamela Anderson's casting couch + Nikki Cox wanting the role + camcorder = Pamela's latest home video bestseller.
In HK, it is an opened secret that Jacky Chan did all his co-actresses and any girls who wanted to be a movie stars.
REPPED, REPPED, A THOUSAND TIMES REPPED! Pidgeon is fvcking god awful! Horrible. Just astonishingly bad. Yes, yes, yes -- we get it. You're doing the flat Mamet thing. All simplicity. All inference. All in the text, not in the acting. But guess what? You STILL suck!
Aren't Joan Collins and Victoria Principle (then later Cybil Shepherd, is that her name?) famous for this - I'm sure they all appeared in porno films, didn't they???
Re: Which actresses used the casting couch? She's been working since she was pretty young... too young for the casting couch. See, if you asked me now, if I didn't know the history... I'd vote for the obviously talentless Olsen twins... but we know they've been around forever... though, frankly, I found them quite ugly babies and didn't understand why they were chosen.
--- i probably agree with you two-thirds of the time, but here i take issue. i think your problem is with Mamet, not Rebecca Pidgeon. her performance in The Winslow Boy is spot on. She's OK in Heist, which isn't a particularly good movie. In The Spanish Prisoner, you have to believe that Susan is smarter than her assertion that she has "a secretary mentality". i'm not trying to say that Pidgeon is a great act.or, but she's far from terrible.
Never mind I misread your post....I thought Denise Richards played Russell's girlfriend in a different episode.
Melanie Griffith Jennifer Tilly total talent vacuum, yeh Griffith had family connections, but God are they ever aweful and Sondra Locke
I understand what you mean and don't disagree with you at all. My point was that we've known for years that the casting couch was part of the price of doing business in Hollywood, for women in particular. It's not just bad actresses who "resort" to it, because you hear stories even from the great ones of the 30s and 40s who were confronted with the expectation of sexual favors at some stage of their career. I'm not denying that talentless bimbos (or himbos) get acting jobs by screwing their way into them, I'm saying it's not just a push market.
Oh, the irony of referencing David Mamet in a thread about the casting couch. Are you familiar with Speed the Plow?
Hmm. If that's true, then the man rules even more than I thought, cause he's co-starred with some seriously fine Asian ass, including the overrated but still hot Zhang Ziyi. Hell, Maggie Cheung is almost twice my age and I'd still sleep with her. Jackie Chan has gotta be the lao bao of HK film.
Yeah, but by the time she was in Rush Hour 2 she was famous already. Didn't she date Ang Lee for a while though? Word. If all that's true, I bet Jackie wishes Gong Li did martial arts movies.
