I'm coming up to St. Louis from Louisiana for the Rams/Chargers game Saturday night and was wondering what the best place to watch Manchester United v Newcastle Sunday morning would be? I think we're staying downtown (or fairly close) and I got the names of a few places (Dubliner, OB Clarks, Scottish Arms) but any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Seeing that you will be rooting against my beloved Newcastle, there's a great pub in Brooklyn called "Pink Slip" - should be open for game time - wear your white Away kit. - JUST KIDDING

Seriously, if you're downtown go to The Dubliner or to Tigin.

If you want lots of Man U fans (I don't know why anyone would), go to Barristers - it's in Clayton but you could take the Metrolink and the walk would not be bad - it's less than a 1/2 mile from the Clayton Station.

It looks like Tigin's is 0.16 miles from the hotel. That really couldn't have worked any better. The website looks nice. Any reviews on the place?

It's nice - good food good beer.

It's part of the Fado line

    www.fadoirishpub.com

Check their website to make sure they are showing the game -- do you know if it is being broadcast?

I used to have to work down there installing satellite dishs and such. That place is so weird during the daytime. It's like Mad Max beyond Thunder Dome, but Ike runs everything instead of Tina.

ps. I love the Dubliner's breakfast.

Is Tig's the only place really showing games anymore? I wish they would show more SPL...so if anyone knows some other places...please post. I didnt see a schedule for the Barristers place.

Celtic, Barrister's in Clayton show most games available, with over 100 in attendance for the Big Games...flowing into the streets. The owner is a player as well. Email Tom @ oasistrop1@charter.net to be added to his list of upcoming events. O'Fallon is a bit away, but the ambiance will make it worth the trip. A full breakfast and lunch menu will be available, plus drink specials.

Agreed. Barrister's is great. I'll be there.

Will do...I also had Dubliner send me the link to the SatTV schedule. It looks like Tigs schedule shows some games at different times. For example they are showing an early time for the Man. U and Newcastle match, but Dubliner is showing it on Sunday?

BUT, more important - I will drive from O'Fallon to be around other Celtic supporters and be able to cheer the Hoops! I look forward to it!

THe Dubliner is nice for Illinois fans as it is just across the river. The full Irish breakfast is also great. Does anyone know anything about a palce called the Highlander near Hampton, where the Arena used to be?

So between Barrister's and Dubliner, which figures to have the better atmopshere for Celtic-Rangers on Saturday?

PS: By "atmosphere" I mean, ideally better for a Tim. :)

I think Barristers might. Maybe try the Scottish Arms.

Just got off the phone with a number of places.

Barrister's MIGHT be showing Celtic-Rangers on Sunday for anyone who's interested.

Scottish Arms will not be opening untill 10 (well past the 6:30 AM Kickoff time) and Dubliner will not be opening that early on Sunday either.

Tigin Irish Pub 333 Washington Ave. They open early specifically for early match day matches. They have a decent breakfast menu and they will pints.
