Canada is pretty awesome. They have full nude strip clubs with touching protected as free speech, a 19 year old drinking age, poutine, smoked meat, really hot dirty librarian chicks and cuban cigars.
I like Canada it's very clean as well. At least it was the last time I have was there in the mid 1970's. But one thing they don't know how to make there at least back then was an egg cream.
Actually I am a big fan. This section of Big Soccer, called "Politics and Current Events" is not mandatory attendance. There are many threads pertaining to the beautiful game, but this isn't one of them.
There is no such thing as a Utopia, liberal or conservative, in the real world. It's up to us as individuals to find our place in our society and to work within the context of our society in order to improve ourselves and be of service to others, hopefully without too much interference from powerful forces such as government.
You can't get that in the rest of America either. Canada also has respectable bagels and pizza as well. Fom my POV with the exception of the 1st amendment and New York City, Canada is our superior in more ways than not.
You OK with their tax revenue being 32.2% of GDP, compared with USA's 26.9%? That's 20% higher. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_tax_revenue_as_percentage_of_GDP http://www.oecd.org/dataoecd/48/27/41498733.pdf Industrialized country average 35%, Scandinavia all above 40%.
Do you even read my posts? What they pay to the government we pay privately. Besides, NY state and in particular NYC pay much closer to that 32% mark. So whatever.
Does have the Vitter family values nailed. I'll give you that much. A lot of money with no one producing anything either. You might be on to something.
It's a dumb question to begin with. There is no utopia for anyone that would match anyone else's. Just thought I would add to the stupidity.
Okay, I get it. There is no example of this low tax, minimal government model working well anywhere. To reach for "utopia" is just "stupidity". I thought maybe vfish or somebody could point to a country where it worked a little bit. But no. The model proposed for our country, by the Republican party has no record of success anywhere. Seems like you could jump to a conclusion from that information.
I guess you play to your strengths. The question wasn't bad if you understand it. Asked another way, where is there an example of a country with strong conservative principles for decades on end that has turned out as a good place to live. A place where conservatives will want to live when Obama is re-elected. While not Utopian, there are many, many examples of successful progressive countries with nice standards of living, great education options and solid, state-provided health care. So skip "Utopia" and just give us a well run conservative country.
I really think you guys miss the boat. The goal is not to live in such a place, it's to propose it in order to get into power, and then, once you get into power, you realize what you proposed isn't possible and your administration looks a lot like the previous administration, the one you were diametrically opposed to during the election. It's what Obama used to get elected and what Romney is trying to use. I think everyone realizes that in pure form, neither side has all the answers.
IMO Russia = Republicans wet dream (with a few changes). France = Democrats wet dream (with a few changes).
Conservatism is like communism. It's only valuable asset is that it is a criticism of capitalism. Fu@ktards at Ricochet.com think that China is more an entrepreneurial paradise than California. http://ricochet.com/main-feed/Where-Anything-Is-Possible Conservatives are the new communists. Mean, stupid, and pretty much pointless.
That's not the problem. It's kinda cool that a running back can be in forward motion, esp. on goal-line plays. And no fair catches. Now, one point for a touchback? And I don't think it is a coincidence that they call that point a rouge. You want proof that Canada is socialist, there it is.
