I guess I just need some explanation concerning the uniforms of some Italian teams if anyone knows, because I don't understand the purpose. First: Why does Atalanta have the same identical uniform as Inter Milan from head to toe (aside from the manafacturer)? Not to mention, Udinese has the same uniform as Juventus? Shouldn't there be some rule in the league? Secondly: I've seen 3 different teams including Juventus and Palermo that have pink jerseys... whats with the pink?
just because they have the same colors doesn't mean they have same identical uniforms. It's very easy to tell them apart. As for the pink. What's wrong with a little pink now and then??
If you don't know the answer, then its best not to reply or at the very least, not respond with "you don't know what you're talking about". Anyone with common sense can tell that this: http://www.atalanta.it/assets/atalanta/photogallery/ata_juve04_grande.jpg ...looks like this: http://www.settimanasport.com/inter/_IMG_0048 l'inter.JPG Other than the maker and sponsor of the jerseys, it's almost indentical. Yes, I can tell the teams apart. In fact, my personal opinion is that Inter has the best European jersey, but still... Inter/Atalanta and Juve/Udi have the same concept uniforms. And 3 teams have pink jerseys. Does anyone have any explanation?
First of all i'll be the first to tell you treat people with respect or NOONE will answer any of your questions around here again. The design and color of the jerseys stems from the colors of that city/teams emblem that is encrested on the right side of the jersey. Atlanta's crest pictured below is black and blue thus the team uses colors black and blue. and Inter's emblem is also black and blue. and Udinese's emblem is black and white like Juve's. and Juve's emblem. which is also black and white like Udinese. The team likes to incorperate the colors of the emblem on thier jerseys. As for the pink Jersey's there are only 2 clubs who wear pink. Juve have a alternate pink jersey that they wear which is suppose to be thier home jersey but when Juve sent the orders to england to have them made what they got instead were some black and white jerseys instead. So Juve decided to stick with those colors and made there new emblem afetr recieving them. Palermo on the other hand has had that color since the beginning of thier club. I belive they chose pink for quite a few reasons but it's late and i don't have all night.
Thanks for an excellent explanation, Gianpaolo. There are hundreds of big and small clubs in Italy, most of which started very early in the 20th century. At that time, nobody really cared so much about marketing and whether their color schemes would overlap with anybody else's - they solved any "problem" by having away kits which were of a completely different color. And pink was just another option then - nobody considered it to be effeminate. Also, the story with Juventus' shirts is told in various forms, but it seems to really have occurred in 1903. Here's one version- http://www.nottscountyfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/TheShirt/0,,10426,00.html I'm pretty sure Italy is not the only nation with multiple teams having the same colors. Southampton and Sunderland come to mind in England. Middlesbrough and Charlton. Etc.
Thanks for the link Sue. Whoops it looks like i was a bit mistaken about the orgins of the black and white jerseys. Different people have different stories of how they actually got them but now i know there not the truth.
Ya, i have no idea what im talking about. wow the have the same colors, they should make a rule that they no 2 teams can wear the same colors. You see in italy the club teams have history, plus there are a ton of more teams then you think. (serie a, b, c1, c2) which can all make it to serie a. How can you tell a 100 year old team to change their colors???
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Palermo wears pink because of a certain individual in that city. Her name was Rosalia, and over the past century she has become something of a good luck charm, or quasi-patron saint, for the city of Palermo. In Italian, rosa means pink. Rosalia is a little girl who died very young about a century ago. Her father was away fighting in WW1 at the time. Her mother wanted to preserve her daughter so that her husband could at least see her, since it had apparently been quite some time. She went to a doctor in Palermo who promised her he could preserve the body. I can't remember his name, but this doctor had a secret formula of sorts which he used to perfectly preserve bodies (he died without ever passing the formula on, so it is a mystery to this day how he did it). Sure enough, Rosalia is perfectly preserved to this day. Her body is on display in a museum in Palermo. It really doesn't even look like she is dead, but rather sleeping... I forget many of the details of the story since it's been a while that I went to Palermo, but the link between Rosalia and Palermo's pink is clear.
see, this? this is the reason I wanna go back to Italy, so I can go to the island. and visit my "hometown". stuff like this is just beyond words in terms of mysticism.
My pops ain't exactly from Palermo but i believe Randy might be right. Rosalia is the saint of Palermo and it does make sense that the city would use the color Rosa.
