This is a rather odd question but I have been fighting it on and off since I was given the option- I was approached a few months ago and was offered to move up with the players I had the previous season- I was wondering what are the advantages/disadvantages to this. I feel that if I continue with them that they will never get the full experience with other coaches and coaching styles yet on the same hand they were a great group of kids to coach and I really enjoyed having them. I was just wondering some peoples opinions on this-
Depends is the coaching they would be moving up to better with someone else or you? Give an honest answer and do that. The object is to put out competent players. So who could do it best you or someone else? Richie
Re: Re: What would you do Well- I know the guy that they would be moving up to he is a friend and I love him to death but he is just doing this because he gets paid to coach. So I am not sure in all honest what he can do for the kids.
"he is just doing this because he gets paid to coach." Does that mean he is not improving their game? If he is getting paid to coach he better be able to improve their game if not what good is he? If not you do the team if you can improve their game.
Another thing to consider is whether the kids will be expanding their skill base or wasting a lot of time in learning to play a new system. One advantage to a coach moving with his players is that, presumably, you're not going to make major tactical changes, so they can concentrate on technical aspects of their game. If you're in a club where everyone plays the same tactics, that's not going to be an issue.
Well I have seen him practice with his kids and its rather half-ass stuff. I don't know if I could improve their game but I know I could try more then he does. Not saying I am a better coach then him but I would try harder then he does.
No two tactics there are the same- we have a different age group and skill level of coaches there. Some coachs are 18/19 but been playing soccer since six while others are 30/40 and no experence what so ever. So it all depends basically on the coach and what their background to the game is.
