Felipe Martins and Gershon Koffie have previously expressed interest in representing Canada and in my understanding are eligible within the 2018 cycle. Does anyone think we stand a chance at qualifying for the *special* 2016 Copa America to be held in the U.S.? There are 6 teams going from CONCACAF: USA, Mexico, Copa Centroamerica Winner, Caribbean Cup Winner and two teams to come from a play off of the top four finishers in the 2015 Gold Cup. So ostensibly it would be Canada versus three other Central American teams for the final two berths. Let's say Costa Rica wins the Copa Centroamerica, that would leave us to fight it out with Honduras, Panama and another nation. I hope we can make it. Copa America is an exciting tournament and being able to see Canada play so close to home against big south american nations would be great.
