As much as I'm not totally into this friendly with Man U, I'll be curious to see what the kits will look like that are unveiled for this match. I doubt they'd be exactly what the Cosmos would wear in MLS, but I'll be curious nonetheless.

Because Adidas is totally going to let one of its competitors put out the jerseys for what will most likely be one of the most popular jerseys, if not the most popular jersey, in the league. Not going to happen.

Adidas pays lots of millions every year to MLS for the ''exclusive rights''

yes, but it's called a "contract" my friend.
    They can't just switch mid-contract.
Adidas has put alot of money into MLS, wiether you hate them or not.

You could buy yourself out, but that would require boatloads of money I guess

Not only that, but the logos are switched (NY Cosmos 71-76, Cosmos 77-84, not the other way around). And, someone has gone in and messed up the font on the original logo, making it like the 77-84 logo, when it was not.

The big numbers on the front were used from '67-'72. Most teams went to smaller numbers on the front from '73 onward (I think Dallas had big numbers on the front of their jerseys as late as 1976 (but from 73-75 had small numbers)).

Not in the middle of another contract that is for the exclusive rights to MLS apparel.

Because it is a new league, new time, new owner, new players. Its only the name that is the same, and hopefully the tradition of excellence that will continue. I would introduce a couple new colors (Purple, Gold) and the home Jersey would be a bit different. I love vertical Stripe jerseys (AC Milan, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter, West Bromwich, etc.) and I think the "New" Cosmos would look good in that.

So the "New" NY Cosmos would be Green, Purple and Gold.

HOME KIT: Jersey: Vertical Stripes, Green & White, Gold Numbering & Trim
Shorts: White w/ Green & Gold Trim
Socks: Green w/ White & Gold Trim

Away Kit: Jersey: Purple with Gold Diagonal Stripe, White Numbering/Trim
Shorts: Purple w/Gold & White Trim
Socks: Gold w/Purple & White Trim

    Throwback Kit(early 1980's): Jersey: White
    Shorts: White
    Socks: White

It was two hours before your favorite team's home opener, and what you wanted to do was to come on the NYC expansion thread, resurrect a 6 month old thread, to talk about Cosmos uniforms?

Absolutely. I was a Fan of the NY Cosmos way before I was and am a Fan of the Metros/Red Bulls.

    I've been around, little dude.

And NYC NEEDS A SECOND TEAM. RESURRECT THE GREATEST TEAM IN THE WORLD. THE NY COSMOS!

In this day and age, it's likely that the new uniform would have a sponsor's name on the front. Wouldn't it be ironic if that name were TimeWarner?

Why not go all out for the hipster demographic and put a green Apple logo on the chest? :D
