Why would he move to Mexico if he's already residing in little mexico?

Gonzalez is training/on trial at FC Nurnberg. Be nice to see him and Chandler on the same backline.

You'll get your wish! The club has confirmed Gonzales is with the team on loan until the start of the MLS season. It also sounds like they also had prior plans to sign him permanently in the summer.

Nice for Omar. Great opportunity for him, though I am a tad bummed he won't be available for the friendlies this month.

If Nurnberg were planning a summer swoop for him, what are the chances they extend the loan to the rest of the B'liga season with an understanding to buy him officially this summer?

While this is a good move for him, I'm surprised that he's only getting a loan deal. Of all the MLS CBs, I figured Gonzalez was the most likely guy to transfer, this winter.

If you cant say anything else about Klinsi, he has worked his ass off to get Americans loans overseas to keep them playing.

I like this move. I really do. Omar is going to walk right into a pressure cooked situation and it will be nothing he's expereinced. Nurnberg sit tight above the drop zone and certainly do not have any points to lose. Eight points seperate postions 6-15 in the table. The table is jammed packed and it's going to be a dog fight. This will be a wonderful learning expereince for him. One MLS or the National team simply can't provide. I don't know that much about Nurnberg's backline. I know they've leaked 28 goals which puts them in the bottom 5 of the league. The only CB I'm familiar with is Philipp Wollscheid who's headed to Leverkusen in the summer. He's decent but it kinda appeared recently he's turned it off as he's already mentally in Leverkusen. I could be totally wrong but I managed to stream their last couple of games and it appeared like it to me.

yeah, players playing well on their club teams and working hard to get their next job is really just due to Klinsmann. No MLS players ever went abroad or trained in Europe in the offseason prior to Klinsmann being hired by the USSF.

He's there on loan but will get to mesh during their winter break training. That's good. I don't see him walking into the starting xi immediately but if the backline is dire, the door should be very open. Here's hoping the mentoring he got from Berhalter on how to be professional in a variety of situations sticks. Do the work, Omar.

Sounds like the club definitely are, as others have mentioned above, interested in a summer transfer and now they have him in house (presently in Belek, Turkey in training camp) for an extended trial.

Martin Bader: "We planned his transfer in Summer 2012, but the opportunity presented itself to loan Omar to at least (my emphasis) mid Februar at the start of the MLS season"

My guess is the Galaxy want to keep Omar and try to win the CCL, then possibly sell him in the summer. He still has 2 years left on his contract, so there's no pressure for the Galaxy to sell him now.
