We have to seriously consider dumping Bocanegra if he stays with Rangers which would mean the loss not only of our best and most consist central defender but our captain too. What are the implications on the USMNT if he decides to stay?

He'll be gone soon enough. He's just too much of a class act to throw a tantrum & not show up for Rangers while he's on contract. So until he finds a new club he'll stay fit by playing in the Scottish 4th division.
I looked it up, he's 33, so he wouldn't be in the SPL again until he's 36. I love USMNT far more than I love the Rangers (and I am a Rangers fan), but I was really hoping either the Olympiakos or Frankfurt rumor would come through... With him having such a vital role on Klinsman's USMNT, he needs to be playing teams at least of Hib's caliber...
That's sort of what I was thinking, and a few of the others in the Rangers forum. With or without Boca, Rangers will be back in SPL within 6 years (at the longest), so they don't need him to stick around nearly as much as the USMNT needs him in a top 15 D1 league.
They don't need him, and quite frankly they'd love to get his salary off the books. Regardless of what league he's playing in, he's fading from the USMNT. Sometimes these things are fast and sudden, and sometimes it's a slow decline. Boca's been an incredible servant to the USMNT over the years, so he's going to be allowed to fight for his spot. If other guys prove they're better than him (and that could happen shortly) than so be it.
Ha. I only saw the goal he was directly involved in, but yeah he had no business leaving his feet like that.
Folks have been skeptical and cynical about Bocanegra since he first joined the men's team in 2001. He had played on our youth teams long before that. Carlos has the experience of a long professional career and, of course, 106 caps. He is also our captain and has been our captain since June, 2007. It's all going to work out, just fine . . . be patient.
where's all the news of interest? Boca has less than 3 weeks. Gotta be a chance he signs with a decent club by then.
He could stick it out until January and go to a club looking to sure up its defense for the second half of the year.
I am a Boca fan and think he's been undervalued over the years by many. However, if he insists on staying at Rangers and playing at such a low level, he should be set aside until he gets himself back into the game. I might be more understanding if he were someone who played for Rangers for a decade and was showing admirable loyality, but he's been with the club for a year, he's not some long time loyal servant who plays for love of the club or any such thing. There is zero good reason for him to stay there. Not sure about financially, but in soccer terms he'd be better off just coming back to MLS where he would surely have several takers.
How realistic would an MLS move be? With some of the chumps I've seen getting DP contracts this year, I have to imagine there would be a team somewhere in the league who would want a soldier like Carlos anchoring their backline.
I dont think anyone has thought of this one. What if Boca wants to be done with the international game. Even though he has only been with Rangers for a year what if he loves that club and its supporters with all his heart? What if he wants to help them get back to the top? Maybe he wants to stay
If he wants to be done with the international game, that is his choice and would basically end this discussion.
