    Yeah, click on the avatar of the person who you want to PM. On the pop-up you will see the option: Start a Conversation....

    Go to your profile page, which can be accessed by mousing over your name on the top right of this, and every page. One of the selections is Contact Details, and you can de-select to be notified of conversations.
