I know there's a music thread but after watching TV last night and questioning something I thought I'd give TV it's due. While watching the season finally of Fringe last night, I was taken aback, but I couldn't figure out if I should have been. I'm not sure if folks on here watch it, but the concept is around fringe sciences. Jumping on the Xmen/Evolution bandwagon from the FBI side. One of the concepts is that a dude can transition/live into a new reality. (Dude happens to be Spock) What I was taken aback by was that in this alternate reality, Fox found it wise to end the show with the hottie FBI girl standing at the top of the WTC while showing a paper about Obama moving into a "New" White House. This of course was insinuating that 9/11 missed the WTC but hit the White House. Some pretty damn brave Americans foiled the WH strike in reality (pun intended), I'm not sure how a TV show depicting an opposite ending is a good thing. I'm kinda lost on if I should be offended, engrossed about the wackiness of the show, or just accepting that Fox wanted some water cooler time. Thoughts? And since I started the thread, NBC better save Chuck, it's the best show on TV. (Only this time with a hottie CIA bird)
Lost. If you haven't seen it, go get season one on DVD and take a day off. Repeat the next day with season two. Video crack, I tell ya.
That was my favorite show for the last 2-3 years pre-mortem. Right now, Im going through a couple episodes per night of Dexter. About halfway through season 2 of 3. Probably try to move on the Wire after that. Heard so many good things about that.
Being a ref in Italy has to be an incredible test of patience. Except if Fiorentina are playing....that's just an honor.
Anyone know if there are reruns of the Wonder Years or The Three Stooges currently on? My fav current show is Deadliest Catch
I guess I should have clarified about non sports. I'd watch a game of one of my teams over anything else.
the only series I own on DVD is The Young Ones which I watch when I am plastered and the rest of the family is in bed. I dressed up as Neil for Halloween in 5th grade, my friend Greg as Vyvyan, and our other friend Steve dressed up as Rick. As you can imagine. Went over like a lead balloon in the burbs. My wife would kill a stranger for thirtysomething to come out on DVD whereas I would probably kill myself.
I'm still trying to push through this season of 'Heroes', but more than half of it is still on the DVR. I don't like it's chances. Beyond that, The Office and Parks and Recreation. I was watching the animated Star Wars series, but it wrapped up for the season about a month back. My wife agrees about Chuck.
I'm still quite a fan of the whole Law + Order line - especially the SVU series. Of course the great television show of all time is no longer in re-runs or on DVD...
ED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember about sh!tting myself watching one episode where Ed was playing pond hockey in an OSU hockey sweater. Loved that show.
That's cause the show took place in Stuckeyville, Ohio !! The life of a goofy lawyer who moved back to Ohio after a divorce, purchased a bolwing alley, and took a liking to little old Carol, the hot high school teacher. What a plot! It's too bad they've never released the series on DVD like they have with just about every god-damn television show ever produced in the last 10 years. Evidently it has to do with the rights to the music they played throughout all the shows and the difficulty in getting artists their "kickback" because of the no-name random artists/songs (that were sweet all at the same time) they used. In case you wanna start stalking the show some nine years later
Currently I'm a Bellisario junkie.. convenient since USANetwork seems to have bought JAG and NCIS, and at wakeup you can flip between the series by watching their 'Sleuth' USA and CTV rerun channel. Unlike other TV producers, Bellisario's stuff gets better with each series, instead of more hackneyed. {Never want to see a Magnum PI episode again.} NCIS is the perfect TV junkie vehicle.. lot's of Politically Incorrect stuff, lotsa weird science, lotsa goofy characters. Bellisario seems to want a court case with NOW on fomenting 'Sexual harrassment in the office environment'. Be difficult since the target chicks always make Tony look the loser. - sidenote: Aint it amazing how the ancillary guys always solve the crimes? Now that Harm Raab 'retired', Jethro Gibbs gets the glory. NCIS is everything CSI Miami is not. You never want to throw a shoe at the TV... not ONE closeup of 'pensive guy removing sunglasses'. If I want that shit, I'll watch Walker Texas Ranger. Cause Chuck Norris would reduce that idiot redhead schmuck to a blubbering mass of capillaries in a second! And Walker makes me want to puke. I'd LOVE Ed in reruns or DVD. I missed a ton of 'em. Another I'd like would be Northern Exposure, if they would regularly schedule them. Only problem with that series was they crammed twenty minutes of storyline into forty minutes of airtime Someday, maybe, I'll pick up 'China Beach' on DVD.. that's going WAY back.
Ed was a great show. It's astonishing what will get put out on DVD now - even crappy shows that never make it to a full season are released on DVD. I guess it's inexpensive to do, and provides an additional revenue stream. I virtually never buy TV shows on DVD - I only have a few HBO miniseries, and Firefly - but I'd probably get Ed. Chuck is a lot of fun. ("I know kung-fu!") I hope it returns. 30 Rock is absolutely hilarious. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is the best show on TV - and the addition on Danny Devito to the cast didn't ruin it. The Big Bang Theory is chock full of great geek humor. There are a few other shows I watch, but few I'd miss if they went away. Terminator finished season 2 really strongly. I loved Ed as well. I remember oe episode where they were at a burger place and Mike bet Ed that he had to order his food by just saying burger meat. Not sure why that was so funny but it was. I still say burger meat all the time. I did hear the actual bowling alley from the show was torn down a few years back. It was actually in New Jersey.
I always thought it was "burger me." Either way, it was really damned funny - thanks for reminding me of that. Those bets were a great part of the show.
This one... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKtW_T5B0oc"]YouTube - $10 Bet - Burger me[/ame] A few more... I don't find that bit funny. However, the fact that DAK77 has been saying Burger Meat for years is absolutely hilarious.
I think I might have a copy of the "Bad News" CD still laying around from their post-Young Ones days. And has your wife come home with unexplained blood stains on her clothing recently....
