My LBS is a Kona dealer, and I'm just starting to get the taste for a new road bike to go alongside my tri-oriented Cervelo Dual (which isn't set up or geared for some of the hilly stuff around here.) Dangerous obsession, I know. Question is, is steel real?
Oh yeah, got mine last week. I really should not be looking at that stuff. Try this. http://www.bicycling.com/gear/search/1,7985,s1-0-0-0-10-ACC,00.html
Thanks, I don't know why I'm so bad with search engines. I spend enough time on the intrawebby thing.
Just put a 2009 Cannondale Six 6 on layaway. I'll put up some pics when I pick her up from the shop. I was gonna go used but they got late shipments in and I got a pretty sweet deal, so I jumped all over it.
2010 Scott Spark 40-Large Fizik Aliante Ritchey WCS 5D Flat Bar w/ ESI Chucky Grips Ritchey WCS SL bar ends Hope Hubs, ZTR 355, and Super Comps 25.34 lbs as it sits
I really like it...nice combination of speed and comfort...I ride mostly for fitness and occasionally in tri's and metric and regular centuries...so it fits my usage perfectly
I hadn't noticed this forum before. Nice. Here's my commuter (uh, actually its my only bike), in all its added extra weight glory. Bianchi San Jose Stock, except for the bullhorns, pedals, and TT brakes. Stock stem, inverted. I have to say that Moishe's collection is devastating.
For starters that's a sharp set of wheels you have there. As far as my stable, things have changed a bit. I sold the carbon Bianchi and Schwinn cruiser so my wife would allow me to by a new car. I'm most likely going to get back in the buyers market over the summer what I get will be dependent upon the budget I am given to work with.
Very cool. Back when I was commuting (before I moved to the Middle East) I never could have commuted on a single speed. Way too hilly, and I'm way too much of a wuss. Much respect.
My commute is pretty short (1.7 miles each way) and downhill on the way into the office. I push it harder on the way home since I don't have to worry about the sweat.
+1 I just got home from work, a lot of uphill into the teeth of a 25 mph wind. No way could I imagine doing that on a single speed. I bow to your superior physical condition.
I rode my single speed from my house to RFK stadium a few years ago. United didn't have the courtesy to beat New England that day. A friend stashed his car at the Greenbelt Metro station, so we took the bikes back via metro and rack. I wouldn't have had the energy or the courage to ride in the dark all the way back. Still can't get rid of my beer gut though!
More in the category of "what are you wearing," but this is what you should wear to your next oh-so-serious weekly group time trial/"worlds" ride.
The Cervélo has arrived! Replacing the now deceased Ridley Damocles. Had my first ride on it this evening and it's truly amazing. It's an R3SL, here it is:
