Speaking of Laurie Anderson, there is no way she wasn't at the US premiere of this in New York. Brooklyn Rider Dominant Curver (2010) Brooklyn Rider is a string quartet with rather adventurous takes on the classics as well as an openness to new music. This CD has a Debussy string quartet as well as pieces by John Cage, and people I've never heard of (Colin Jacobson, Kojiro Umezaki, and Dmitri Yanov. And ther's bits of electonica worked into a couple of pieces. On deck later this afternoon, a new arrival... Brooklyn Rider, Seven Steps, (2012) The title track is inspired by Beethoven's 14th String Quartet, which is also the centerpiece of the disc. Critics are split on the interpretation of Beethoven, which IMO is almost always a good sign.
