Interpol Battlestar Galactica Soundtrack Season 2 Bubblegum Crisis Complete Vocal Collection Paranoia Agent Soundtrack Wally Pleasant I put all the music I own in a giant random list. It is a major trip. This was the last 20 minutes. Minus the stuff that has no album cover. Obviously my own decision making process is faulty. I play to turn over more of my life to random processes. It's doing well so far.
Thanks. I don't know anything about Deerhunter except that I recognize two of their album covers from this thread. I thought that tune was interesting. I'll have to try to check for samples elsewhere as that album isn't available for download on Amazon (although his '09 album is).
That is quite peculiar that the album isn't available via Amazon downloads. The one I posted is way more conventional than the '09 one (though that one is excellent too...it's just more ambient/experimental.)
Trojan Ska Box Set So far haven't gone wrong with any of these Trojan sets, each one has lots of great stuff I'd never heard. I'm only on disc 1 and looking at the track names this one definitely extends into rocksteady and not just ska, but as long as it's good I don't really care.
The Courtyard Kings -- Douces Wild (2011) Says their website: "Their sound is based primarily on original arrangements of jazz standards, combining elements of gypsy jazz, Brazilian jazz, New Orleans traditional jazz, bebop, classical music, and rock'n'roll." My nominee for the "what were they thinking with that cover?" contest.
36. SHARON VAN ETTEN - Tramp (2012) In addition to checking this one out for the project, I also wanted to check it out because she's the opener on Nick Cave's upcoming US tour. I've only listened to it once so far, but I really enjoyed it. Will definitely be revisiting this and will definitely show up early enough to see her play in March. Samples
Kronos Quartet: Mugam Sayagi: The Music of Franghiz Ali-Zadeh (who is playing piano on a quintet piece) It turns out I have heard her music before: She has an interesting piece on a Yo Yo Ma Silk Road Ensemble recording. She is without a doubt the best Azarbaijani composer I know of. If anyone knows some who can give her a run for the money, let me know.
